Homeless Lady
Hunger pangs set in
as she walks the familiar path.
The cracked sidewalk beneath
her feet.
Familiar faces of strangers
pass her by.
Their eyes looking past,
as if she wasn't there.
She looks down at her feet,
then touches her face.
"Yes I am not dreaming"
The unerasable memories start
flowing in her mind.
The would've, should've could'ves
had faded long ago.
Her pride swallowed like a cracker,
without a drink.
She holds out her weary hand.
"Can you spare some change?
