Guess what I learned today from my sister about my kittens ! She had told me originally that it costs $75 to adopt a cat or kitten at the Human Society which she does fostering for. Compared to even Petsmart which also does adoptions of rescued cats and kittens this is a big bargain. And just lke Petsmart it does include immunizations and spay or neutering.

But this is not why I adopted my kittens Bindi and Snowden. My sister called me about Bindi to tell me she was fostering a white odd eyed kitten knowing I had lost mine tragicly 2 yrs ago. Of course I wanted her. I took another kitten not related to Bindi to foster and keep her company until spay time and that was Snowden who I ended up falling heads over heels in love with. So I adopted him also along with Bindi.

But here is the news I learned. April told me that Snowden actually cost $100 to adopt and Bindi was $75. But the lady in charge had said since I was adopting two of them she would give me a break and took off $50 off the top. So I came out way ahead on  getting both of them. I just found this out !

My sister did not say why in her email today that Snowden cost more. My own guess is because he looks like a short haired version of a Seal Pt Birman cat. It can't be because he is a boy. That makes no sense. The contract you sign to adopt is legally binding and insures they get all get fixed. And besides you would think then if it was that it would be a girl would cost more.

Does anyone here know how the Humane Soc. prices their kittens or cats or dogs or pups for that matter? Are purebred or purebred looking (like Snowden) automaticly cost more to boost sales for the shelter's costs ?

Because you see I can't help thinking they missed the boat! Bindi is a rare odd eyed kitten. And she is additionally rare because she is a Oddly Odd eyed kitten with one eye exactly half blue on top and half yellow on the bottom and the other eye is totally yellow. I would think I am not the only one who would be attracted to her marvelously fascinating looks. They could of charged more for her to and  had her for a $100 also and people would still want such a loving and unusal looking kitten.

So what do you all think?

Sasha
