The first you notice when arriving to Alingsas are all the old huge chestnut trees and you already feel the atmosphere of a very charming old town. This beautiful and prosperous town is internationally known for the preservation of its interesting town centre where many of the wooden houses look just as they did 100 years ago. Apart from admiring the picturesque houses you can also take a guided tour. With a map and directions you can make the tour by your own if you prefer. There are numerous small and attractive shops selling all kind of art and craft of high quality to good prices.

Alingsas is also known as the "Café Town" for its wealth of small coffee shops. During the summer season you can enjoy the best tasting coffee and delicious pastry outdoors on the most picturesque back yards. It is absolutely worth to have a coffee break in Alingsas. Well, it is almost a law!

Alingsas is a lovely town only 48 minutes away by train from Gothenburg C.

This picture was taken by me during one of my visits in Alingsas. I love this little nice town. Here I can relax and enjoy the strolls in the many parks.
