Hi my name is Jenny, I was in Year 8 when Quantocks closed. I was the first pupil to know that the school was going to close because my parents had been told by Mr. Langley. I was then told that I couldn't tell anyone else, but I did tell my friend Alice. About a week later in assembly the announcement was made that the school was closing. The teachers then put thast song 'perfect Day' on and everyone got very teary. It was a very sad time. We all loved the school. By that time there were hardly any pupils in the school as numbers were very low. I think it was below 100. There were three girls in my year group and three boys.

Looking forward to this years reunion.

Jenny Robins

Sounds surreal to say the least....glad I did not witness that.  Did you end up going to another boarding school after that ?  If so how did they compare ?

Cheers,

Nathan

Very surreal indeed!!

I wonder why they decided to put on a tear-jerker of a record after telling you!!

I suppose when you hear that record it makes you think of that day and the school in general

hi, yeah i went to a different boarding school after that. It was called sexeys school and it was very different because it wasn't in the middle of no-where and you could actually walk to a shop! In the end at Quantocks going to never stwoey was the event of the week and there were nearly no school trips. Jenny

The School opened 1964 during the summer holidays. Richard Williams came there during the holidays, Tony Budget and myself came the first day of term.
Cheers

Would you happen to know or have a record of that day, the first day of term - sounds like the start of the school to me!
