..will be of particular interest to some people on here.

I still find it astonishing that it takes these things so long to come to light - 30 or more years in this case. I guess there will be people that have their theories. The sad thing for me is that this guy's jail sentence is meaningless to anyone apart from himself (and even that's debatable). Putting people in prison is meant to protect the public from the harm that the perpetrator would otherwise do - in this case it's way too late and I suspect that for his victims it will be a very hollow victory..?

Hi Bri - good to see you still knocking about! As far as I can tell this guy never worked at Quatock - but I take your point. I've read the article, and it is amazing and the damage done by these people to just one person can't be calculated, there really is not way to punishing them, and as you say when they do get caught they've more or less got away with it. I've added your message to the abuse site (see Abuse site ) Mike |

Hi Mike
Yep, still about and reading messages though not posting lately as I don't seem to be able to do anything except work :-(
Rather a silly and perhaps misleading choice for the subject title, only noticed it really after I'd posted it.
I never experienced or even heard of anything like this at Quantock and, in the blissfully ignorant world of my back-then naivety, would never even have considered such a possibility.. I was genuinely shocked therefore to subsequently find out via the message boards after joining this website that it apparently DID occur at my school, to people that, in a way that I think only comes from having been at an establishment like a boarding school, I consider part of my extended family. Which brings it a bit closer to home and makes all the other news stories from elsewhere that much more personal and real, I think.
Rambled on again, haven't I!!

Bri You ever finish your research on the Labouchere family tree and the Quantock connection? I'm living in Kent these days - I suspect a bit closer to you than Exeter, unless you are back in Plymouth - anyway we still have not met up ... I was hoping the lure of a few spitfires might drag you back to QS?! Maybe we really should try for another London-bash? ola Mike |

Haven't touched it for ages now due to not having enough spare time. I've not abandoned it though and I will get back on it again.
Kent is indeed closer to me than Exeter.. and of course is Spitfire Country (the brewery being in Faversham).
I think another London bash would be a great idea if there are enough London-area Quantoxiles to make a go of it!
