I have to post on this topic, because Blakey's been doing some research and has got on my case.. (He's such a slave-driver you know).

About three years ago, long before I discovered this site, I put the following message on the Knowhere Board (if you haven't heard of Knowhere, just do a google search)

If any of you 'orrible lot have any comments, I'd be interested..

"When I was a mid-teenager at Quantock School, (1970's) we used to help out on an archaeological dig on a long-since abandoned village which, if I remember correctly, was called 'Edstock'. I think it was abandoned in the late 1700's or early 1800's. It was on what is now farmland (yeah I know - big help) near Bridgwater somewhere, although I haven't a clue where, or in which direction...

We spent many a hot summer Sunday afternoon as young lads there, more for an excuse to drink cider than anything else.

Does anyone know anything at all about this site; was it really called 'Edstock'? Is it still being excavated? Where is it? What became of it?

Cheers

Bri"
