It would appear that we have had a rash of new members - I can only hope that I am part responsible for this. Maybe the newbies could confirm if I am or not.
In short, I left details of the www.quantockschool.co.uk site with Matron (it is now also mirrored on www.quantockschool.com by the way) - I wonder if she passed this on to people who might have visited subsequently?
Hopefully this IS the case - which will of course mean a steady flow of members from here on in which should make Mike's graph look even better than it is right now!
I did speak to Matron about a reunion of some kind - maybe if we can get 50 people together it would be one good party! That said, 28 is still pretty good, considering that until three months ago I was aware of the existence of only two other ex-Quantockians.
All that remains now is for you people to build up your biographies, complete with some 'then and now' photographs, to send to me so that I can place them up on the 'Green' site. I am in the process of updating it and hope to have a better, fuller version with the bios of at least 10 people by the beginning of September. If I can get 20 of you, it would be even better.
I don't want to plead with you all, as those of you who knew me would know that I am not the pleading type - I just want to make this work and have a site that will actually encourage more ex-Quantockians to show how proud they are of this small slice of their lives (hark!)
To make it easy, this is how your bio should be constructed:
Intro. A small description (1-3 paras) of what you are doing now. Make it humourous and sarcastic. Us Brits like that, and it will make sure that any marauding American cannot understand what you are going on about. I will make the whole thing 'third person'.
Year Chapters. Describe each of your years at Quantock, relating particular stories and notable events that may have taken place. Discuss anything you want, but refrain from using too much profanity. A little is fine, though. And it must be in context! :-)
Your view of all the teachers that were there at the time (NOT past ones that you may have only heard about), and if available, choice quotes from your reports.
And, of course, the obligatory photos.
I am looking forward to the flood of emails. And if you have not forgotten, you can e-mail to the address posted on the website or directly to me at [email protected]
Cheers all
Rick
