Does anyone remember the fire in my dorm in 1974 I had a One ring electric cooker and had left it on as Big P always turned the electric of at night. I think Brett Gregson sleeping bag fell on it so when the electric was put back it went up in flames. There wasn't much damage but the dorm stank of smoke for ages and of course I was in the shit. By the way I'm JOHN ROSE.

Sorry my freind, I can't let you have that one.  The class of 89 were the coolest dudes.  We were able to shake off those 747 wing collars and replace them with smaller items, slim line ties and lashings of hair gel.

We invented the baggy trousers, turned up (of course) and suede Dr Martin shoes.  But best of all were the Nike hightop basketball trainers complete with white socks - BRILL !!!

I know we were the turning point in British fashion as a chap from the year above (88) had bright red patent shoes - Scarry !!

Sorry to break it to you, but there you go.

Marcus

Those Nike basketball trainers are no laughing matter - I hope you've still got them, although the subject is one that annoys me immensely. I bought a pair of those garish red and white Air Jordans in the mid '80s I guess, a while after leaving Quantock, still with no dress sense at all. Just after I got married my wife found them in a cupboard, still very serviceable, and insisted on binning them. About a year later I came across an article in 'Loaded' magazine on 'cool' trainers and discovered that, being the first of the pneumatic type, collectors were paying around £2000 for original examples. Talk about airsoles....

Neil,

Sadly no.  I wore those things till my toes pocked through the leather, they lasted me about 7 years.  I wore them everyday to college.

They were considered so cool at the time that I had to keep them under lock and key to stop them 'walking'.  Ninja Rowland used to borrow them from me whenever he had a basketball match - If I remember rightly.

Mike Moffat had one of the USA jackets with the white leather sleves.  I bought his old one off him when he got the new one - very Shiek Mistique.

Marcus.

Marcus,
The chap stood next to me is a stupid pratt who used to drive around in a Rolls Royce thinking he could pull any girl he wanted, I've always found that a nice dress pulled lots of pretty boys, came in handy when I stayed in Frisco. Still you should know all about that.

Tim I heard that too ... and that was just the collar studs !!

Rumor also has it that the concord designers got their inspiration from seeing Sean riding his motor bike.

I won't ask what happened to his bell-bottoms ...
