Hello: I attended QS from 65 to 70. I was not much into sports, so I used to finish my homework (Prep) during sports periods. What to do during Prep? I overheard one day that the Kitchen staff would not wash the dishes in the evenings anymore, so I approached Mr. Peaster on this matter. I offerred my services for 5 Shs. per meal, and promised Mr. P that my Prep would not suffer. He tried me out for one week, and from then I had it made. Every week when the kids received their pocket money, I would receive my Shs. 10, together with my salary of Shs. 40 (2 Pounds) for a whopping Shs. 50 every week. In those days, singles would be on 45 RPM vinyl discs and they would sell for Shs. 8. I would wait until the songs went off the charts and buy the records used for Shs. 2. After a while, Mr. Phillip decided to use washing dishes as a source of punishment, so any one who needed to be punished would be assigned to help me. So I would finish my tasks in record time! At one of the school breaks, I could not travel back home, so I stayed at a place at Sidcup, and there got the nickname JAMIE, so you may address me as JAMIE. I have many more tales to tell. But later. Cheers |

Jamie, Well done on the good pay for dish washing. I only got 5/- a week and had to do the washing up 3 times a day, 7 days a week. I too hated sports, so how did you manage to get out of doing it ? Also are you on the 1965 school pic?, or any other picture, as we must have been at Quantock at the same time. Plus how old were you when you left Quantock ? Laurie 1964-1966 |

Hi Jamie, I too was at the school at the same time as you...I was the tall thin Australian boy who lived in the top corridor with Chandrahas Patel. I remember you well. Stay in touch eh? Cheers Warwick |

Hello: Jamie here. To know who I am see me in 1970 photo C-6. Laurie, you could not have been a student, as at the time I left, QS was not yet co-ed. My dorm mate was Bruce Ward. I was probably the only one in the school who got along with him. Since I did the dishes when he would be doing Prep, his antics did not bother me. At sports time, he would walk DP's dog, so I did my prep in peace! Cheers Jamie |

Hi Laurie: While everyone sle was in sports, I would sneak back up in my room, close the door and pore over my prep. After a few times, it became routine. No one bothered with me, and since I was no good at any sports anyway, no one wanted me on their team. Suits me fine! Cheers Jamie |

Hi Laurie: Further to my "career" in dish washing, I had it made for a while. Then someone, I believe Mr. Phillip, decided that a good punishment for kids was to make them do the dishes, so I had free help. Soon, other kids got jealous of my money making scheme, so they muscled in. At first only two nights per week, and pretty soon, every night. Their work was not as meticulous as mine, and people would often complain to me about the dirty dishes. I told them I was out of it and to search for the real culprits. Soon the HM was at my back for resuming my chores. This time I upped my ante to Shs. 10/- per meal, and we compromised at I believe 7/6. Soon after, I graduated and left QS. Cheers Jamie |

Hi Laurie: Looks like I just put my foot in my mouth! From the way you spell your name, I assumed you were a female, possibly ex-staff. Then I looked at your photo. I am sorry but I do not remember you. Also, the photo is not distinct, so it is hard to make anyone out. Once again, my apologies. Jamie |

Nick, Re:- The 1965 Oil Painting. You're right, it is an oil painting. We had to stand there for four weeks. Terry Watts (A27) and John Leonard (A20) are both wearing their slippers !!! Laurie Corripe Cervisiam ( Seize the beer!)

Hi Jamie, No apologies required about my sex. I'm amazed that Mr Phil let you get away with not doing sports !!! Unless he was too pissed of with me and couldn't stand the bother !!! Laurie |

Hello Warwick: Sorry, but I do not remember you. After a few decades, memory fades! Do you remember any tales of QS? Do you remember the tragic accident in which Nigel Jackson and Nigel Swain were killed? Do you remember who else was in the accident? So what do you do nowadays? Keep in touch. Cheers Jamie |
