Hello: Jamie here. In my time, I remember there were two sets of expulsions from QS: 1) Amin Somani, from Congo, made friends with David Gichuru from Kenya. They were thrown out for trafficking in drugs. Does anyone remember that? 2) Jon (that's how he spelt his name!) and Peter Samuels from New York were also expelled. One of those brothers jumped on a sink, dislodging it from the wall; another brother urinated in another sink! Does any one remember that? I also remember one tragedy: Three or four kids were killed in a car accident. Nigel Jackson was one of them. He was a good, smart kid. He was in my debate club, with another guy who was asthmatic. I do not remember his name or the name of the other kid. Any help here? Cheers Jamie |

Hi Jamie, I only remember two being killed, one an Arab and I think you mean Nigel Swain, unless there were two Nigels killed. Laurie. |

Hi Laurie:
Yes, Nigel Swain was the other one. He was the asthmatic in my debate club. I'm pretty sure there was another one or maybe two with the two Nigels.
Cheers
Jamie

Hi agian, Jamie here: This is not the first time anyone threw up at QS. I remember 4 of us were stuck at QS over one Xmas break, as we had nowhere else to go. What to do? We decided on a party. There was Sushil Bhatt, his elder brother Arun, Deepak and myself. Arun bought the drinks, and each of us bought some snacks at Bridgewater and we smuggled the stuff in into Sushil's dorm. The party started out nice, with songs playing, snacks and booze free flowing. Deepak was foolish enough to mix drinks. When he threw up, we found out he did not even bother to chew the Ritz biscuits, they emerged intact! What a mess! He was ordered to sleep off his booze, while we cleaned up. The party was over! Cheers Jamie |

Hi Jamie, Yes, Nigel Swain was very good at debates, I would hate being against him. I remember that he was allergic to eggs, even if he had sausages cooked with eggs in the same pan his face would come out in huge bumps. He lived in Cheltenham, so his house was about 2 hours drive from Quantock. I can never believe that Peaster managed to brush over the car crash and that no one was questioned about it. If it happened today, I dread to think of the cosequences. Laurie |

Jamie & Laurie, I remember the Head telling us about the car crash in Chaple, I can't even remember why - Perhaps, someone had taken the school minibus for a ride, and he wanted to put the frighteners on us! At the time, I'm not even sure most of us believed him - it seemed just too 'big' an event to happen at Quantock! Mike |

Someone took the school minibus, who would have thought that Justin ! I cant remember the story being told but I am sure things would have been different had it happened in the latter years. With some of the things that went on I am suprised it did not happen more often. Quarry tig, walking around the edge of the old building on those crubbling edges etc etc was surely asking for trouble ! Nathan |

While I was there, I think one lad was expelled, I cant remember his name, but he had his computer "stolen" and blamed it on other people, me included. It later turned out he hid it on the fire escape I think and got led away by Big Phil. Any way one break time we heard banging above us in our dorm went upstairs to investigate to see the lad being dropped on the floor by Richard Locke. He suffrered a broken rib and we all got to go on a early morning run for "mob violence". Anyone remember this and what the kid was called? |

Chris here again, I do remember another expulsion, I cannot remember his name or year, he was older than me, anyway he was on washing up duty, for a detention I think, and decided to smash all the plates instead of washing them up. If you remember, the small kitchen? Well it was covered in broken plates. Big P, later took a few of us on a tour of the cellars and said he was not expelled, but locked in the cellars! ROFL!!!! Can anyone fill in the blanks of this event? |

Rocker Computer fraud at Quantock who would have thought it!! The idea of smashing all the washing up plates instead of washing them up ... the very thought fills me with joy, ... sadly I was never ballies enough to do that (probably was I was not excluded) !!!! The small washing up room (next to the kitchen I presume) must have been carnage. Not too many people got kicked out when I was there ... a few got asked to leave early after exams .... (you know who you are!) I'm not sure if even the bridgewater shop lifing brigade got the shove ... Mike |
