I've heard of the cost of Reiki Attunements being up to $1000 and more.  My Reiki master told me about it.  It is for a couple of reasons.  One being that when Reiki was brought to the western world, the Reiki masters wanted people to apprciate it.  The masters saw that money was "everything" to the people and the defining point of something's value.  So the masters made the attunments expensive, so that people would see that Reiki was something of extreme value, not just some parlor trick.  The other reason is one of the two precepts of Reiki.  This is from my Reiki I book my master gave me on the day of my first attunement.  "There must be an exchange of energy for services.  Energy exchange can be anything from the stored concept of energy we call money, to an exchange of services.  The monetary fee sets a value on the service,  which is considered a concrete reality in the thinking of humankind.  Wellness, likewise, has a value, and ultimately reflects the feeling of worthiness and self love of the person seeking to change their state of health"

Now that the reason for the high cost has been established, here is some good news.  My Reiki master, Sara Simpson, is going to be doing Reiki I, II, and III classes/attunements in May.

They will be held at the Mississippi School of Theraputic Massage(The school I attend), located in Jackson, MS.  Sara is the director of the school.  Their phone # is 601-362-3624.

Reiki I  is $100, and will be held on May 13th.

Reiki II is $175, and will be held on May 14th.

Reiki III is $250, and will be held on May 15th.(I'll be taking this class)

Each class is 6 hrs long(9am - 4pm, with 1 hr lunch) and counts for 6 hrs ceu's for those of you who are massage therapists.

I know Jackson, MS may be nowhere near where some of you live, but a $100 bus ticket and $250 for Reiki III, is alot cheaper than $1000 for the attunement.  If a group of you get together and split travel costs, that may help too.

Plus Sara Simpson is one of the most amazing people I have ever met.  I am honored to be a student of hers(besides Reiki, she taught me Craniosacral, Reflexology, and a little bit of Polarity), and I feel that spreading her name will be a way for me to repay her for all that she has done for me.
