On my morning walk

I had many thoughts

I saw school had started again in the August heat

I watched children greet their friends again, how sweet.

again I stood there, aching,

knowing then that another season

Another day without you still

my darling daughter, time again is between us

Time flies by, days slip past

Another day a shadow cast

is a day fighting my illness too.

Another year grows a mist between us

God, I miss you, these times are empty

doing my best with hands neatly tied

while your father’s relatives tell easy lies

They distort truth about me to you, barring

any access, my options are few

Don’t believe what they say, hold on

Tight to your heart, I fight on another day
