Following is the text of the online session for Pt 3 of the Weekly SLC series titled "Spiritual Path and the Yellow Brick Road", given on 2/6/01.

Kellogg_bluff : OK - let's begin. Good evening and welcome to the SLC weekly Series. Tonight's session is Pt. 3 of the "Spiritual Path and Yellow Brick Road " series. Tonight's session will deal with items 5 thru 10 of the "Kellogg Creed", posted on SLC community web site. I hope those of you with the interest - have read the posted notes from this text, and Pt. 1 and 2.

Tonite - we continue our trip to Oz. Tonite - I'm the old man behind the curtain that Toto tugs at. And all you sitting out there - are looking for courage, a brain - or perhaps Heart; but we all need what is most important in our journey --- Hope.

This Creed - addresses the way to build that Hope --- and give one a Path...to whatever ya want in your journey. Whether you are going to Oz - or Kansas. Ok - let's do this.

#5 - "Everyone has something to teach; allow their perspective to Illuminate you." Now, I Know you're all saying - 'what in hells' bells does that mean?' It is the second part of the statement that gives one the clew. The key to enlightenment - or to knowledge - is to widen your perspective; to allow a new one in...and thus - to learn something you didn't know previously.

The idea that everyone has something to contribute - to your cause...is an old one...and it has value. In the Path we will all travel, it is the subtle clews that we will use...to gain enlightenment. This enlightenment does not come with Big gains...it comes in increments - a piece at a time.

And suddenly - something very small - very subtle, triggers this enlightenment. Whether you believe in gradual or complete enlightenment in this wurld...the trigger...is always in itself - small and subtle. The idea that Everyone has a value to you --- that everyone can add to your path --- is as valid as saying you are a piece of Spirit. If everyone is a Piece - then if follows that you should be able to utilize the energy thereof.

But - besides the logic in it ---forget the logic. TEST it. Build your path to allow for testing of these type of precepts. If they DON"T work - then it has no value for you, and you can ignore them at your leisure.

I share these precepts of the Creed, with you - Precisely for this reason. Whatever a person has to give you - it will be Personal; and you must take it that way, to use for your own path. Do NOT expect a sign to be attached - saying ---- "use me please." It won't happen that way.

In martial arts, your opponent's perspective will allow you the opportunity to win - in battle. In the spiritual struggle - it is no less that way. We are all - alone - in our struggles; but we are all on the same journey. You can use your journeymate's lantern - to light your own way. And by doing so - you assist him/her with theirs.

Kellogg_bluff : before I go to #6...let me touch a bit on the history of the Creed. This set of instructions were given to me about 25 yrs ago. The number of instructions - 10, coincide with the Dan rankings in a system called...floating hand. It originally had little to do with positive spiritual growth. In fact, they were used for different reasons entirely J . However, through example, my teachers showed me these could and should be used for spirit progress as well as for battle. And so --- 25 yrs later...they are

#6: " If you learn nothing else in your trip through the Wurld, learn self discipline." Self discipline…J I know Everyone wants this one, right? If you learn nothing else in this trip - in the wurld - learn this. Now....folks in SLC know I harp on this all the time. So I will assume for this session, that you have never heard me harp… and I will be brief J

OtherMaple : FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU FUCKING IDIOT FUCK YOU

8OtherMaple has left the conversation.

Kellogg_bluff : thanks, we needed a little humor right about now.

intense_female : lol

hammerstein1 : lol

Kellogg_bluff : I think he needs a little discipline, and he forgot his punctuation. But he points out something vital, that you all need to remember. When a person is sharing something of value...

there will always be fearful opposition. Look for this - when you are traveling along your Path.

a Path without opposition - is perhaps too easy a Path, at the beginning.

The idea of use (of) self-discipline is inherent in all the organized teaching systems of martial art, and of occult science, and for a good reason. One cannot energize the Gifts - without directed thought. Following this, one cannot properly direct the thought - without Focus. And one learns this Focus --- via self -discipline.

The idea that it can be used in the next realm - is also vital. When you die, this will be the first of your tests...how you control your thoughts...and whether you can harness them without the wild abandon of emotion. Fear, sadness, anger, happiness; nothing wrong with having these feelings; but you will need to Harness them...or else - you will be taking a rest in the Garden with your friends for awhile.

that's ok ---- nothing wrong with taking that rest; it's just an FYI. And when you want to astral travel...the control you need to go where/when/how you want to - is harnessed via this self- discipline I speak of. If ya don't have it, you are subject to the strongest emotional impulse you Last had - when you fell asleep - and that's where you go !

In your dealings with the Wurld...self discipline will allow you to Discern the value of your Path - and your actions towards it, and your issues that you need to face, in building your path. It is the single point of failure - when you cannot. All other problems will stem from this single point; your lack of discipline to stick to your Intent, or your lack of discipline to listen, or to do something boring - at the price of losing an opportunity.

The reason we make spiritual learning for our students - boring ...is to allow the students to build self-discipline. It has to be built; it cannot be given. And it will not come in a cereal box. (unlike myself)

intense_female : lol

Kellogg_bluff : now...the long awaited #7: "Patience and kindness are the virtues you need desperately; here, and in the Far land."

Why in the Sam hill should we be patient? Right? Well, read the statement again - slowly. From item 5 - thru 10 - they are in this order, for a reason. In order to do what #7 suggests, you need to have a start on #6 . Because building patience and kindness - in this Wurld - is a tremendous task in itself. But it IS vital, and here is why.

There is a thing...called the singular paradox. I didn't coin this - but I like the wording. It means - a paradox - that is displayed throughout everything we do; Everything we see, and everything we hold dear. Whether your Path is to conquer or to heal...it makes no difference. These two aspects of character will allow you to succeed in your path, by giving you a tool to reach the hearts of those you need to interface with.

The idea that building patience makes you a Mother Teresa --- is unfounded. Relieve this aspect of it's moral bearing for a minute, and consider it's value as a tool. Whether you are maneuvering to destroy an opponent - or maneuvering to take out an unholy entity from a bedeviled person... patience is a tool you will need - to win.

But patience - when coupled with Kindness...should give you an inkling Why this is valuable. See - there is a Bunkai here. The idea that by helping all others - it helps your self - is valid. The idea - what goes around, comes around...is valid. And the old Wiccan saying --- is valid.

If you send negative energy out - negative energy will return to you. Of course, if negative is what you want...then it's cool, and it has value in the learning path - at the beginning, and during the middle phase. But the idea of helping others - to help yourself...has a bit of selfishness in it. And thus - the paradox.

Nevertheless...I want my Path to succeed...and if you are in my Path - I can utilize your distraught time - to my advantage; and I will, thru patience and kindness - and we both gain by the experience. If I am a killer ---- and I do something based in kindness for you...it will come around for me ---- when I need the energy for enlightenment, or for my own dispensation and judgment; or as part of my Review.

We need this desperately...because it is the Portent of our Spirit - here on the Wurld. It is a guidepost. The other spirits - guides - helpers - whatever you prefer to call them...they utilize patience in dealing with us...and they show kindness in Not ignoring us...when they easily could otherwise. This action, in itself - should be enuf to show you that, what they do - as a matter of course, You should learn.

Yes, you help yourself by helping others. Not for the kudos - but for the energy, and the illumination, and the experience. Period.

Kellogg_bluff : #8: "Treat all others as you wish to be treated, whether you understand why or not." The second part of this sentence is the kicker. Once you decide how you want to be - in this Wurld...treat all others appropriately. The idea here...is that you need to first make Damn sure you have a Path...or spent the time finding one. You may spend all your life, and that is ok. It is time well spent. How you treat others --- defines your Protocol. There can be no greater calling card.

billgatesIV : I'm out of here, i don't like ego

Host Kellogg_bluff kicked billgatesIV out of the chat room.

Kellogg_bluff : I treated him as I would be treated, for interrupting. If you feel that you should treat others with an ill hand, then make sure you are comfortable with this - and expect others to follow suit. If Protocol has any value for you...you will do this, out of form - if for No Other reason.

Protocol - is your relation with the Wurld - and your fellow spirits. It is up to you - how you handle it.

#8a. "Violence should always be the last resort; it is usually the clumsy resort. Harm no one who is not harming you. IF harm approaches, use strategy to deflect or derail."

This was added due to the martial intent of the floating hand training, but it applies to emotional and spiritual harm as well. Harm no one who is not harming you. If harm comes your way - use strategy to deflect or derail. The idea is----if you are in synch with your Path - and your personal Power...you will see this threat coming....and prepare ...before it arrives. There are numerous sayings that typify this, so I won't bore you all here. But - it is generally felt - from folks like me with a little fight training...that violence is a clumsy way of reaction to attack.

Besides - death is no stranger to a warrior. It is a knock on the door. In spiritual matters ---- never attack that which you can otherwise deflect or derail. This applies to healing, exorcisms, protection, and cleansing...and visitations, and presentations.

Kellogg_bluff : #9: "build your Etiquette as though you will greet the gods in the morning --- you may." This is pretty self-explanatory . It means, you ain't gonna live forever, so get ready.

You don't have unlimited time, here. Every day is One less to use - in seeking the opportunities to expand your awareness, and to Grow. Ain't nothing wrong in playing in the sandbox...as long as you make the decision That is What ya wanna do this time around. But - you should live your life - as though it is about to end, and make all days special. Because they are.

Kellogg_bluff : and finally...(whew)…#10: "Never let 'em see ya sweat."

The last for the best. This is what you use - when the GDO has you cornered in that terrifying dream...

or you are in the Valley of Never - and it's dark --- and your alone…

----and no one can hear your screams...and you are fearful…

of disappearing.

It is #10 - for the same reasons there are 9 preparatory items before it.

You will be challenged, at many points in your life - your path.

You will be pushed to your Limits, and your value as a person - as a spiritual person seeking growth...will be defined by the limit of your training...and your discipline...and your fears...and your limitations.

You sink to the level of your worst day - and your training. #10...is the simple reminder that...you are the sum of your training, your experience - your good and bad points; and you are, in yourself - the singular paradox.

Neva let 'em see ya sweat - means - hold true to your path...and be yourself - on your worst day ----- at the lowest level of your training...and give thanks for the opportunity.

Kellogg_bluff : now...I have a minute for a question or two...J …from the esteemed gallery.

lighthart1 : ty

antis__Knight : ok

faceonmars9 : That was, for lack of a better word to describe the connection i felt to the lesson and years of watching MTV, Awesome.

Mantis__Knight : what exactly is a bunkai?

Kellogg_bluff : ok - I can do that question. Bunkai: this is a Japanese term...originally used in Karate training...to describe the application of Kata in a battle. So - take that explanation... and add to it -- a way to share a lesson (teach) with a student by showing the student a not-so-obvious way to see things, via an obvious way to see other things. Bunkai means a posture that contains both an obvious stance, and a devious stance.

lighthart1 : are analogies bunkai?

Kellogg_bluff : analogies are the tools of a bunkai - not the bunkai itself. Bunkai is applied technique for a situation. you may need the student to learn something about anger. So - you use an analogy of an event - and use it to stimulate anger; and after the emotion has passed ---- the student will remember the analogy - and use a different perspective, and perhaps - learn something new. It is clumsy to explain the usage of bunkai, except via a bunkai.

gidget600 : what does GDO mean?

Kellogg_bluff : GDO - are the initials for the Great Dark One. Supreme espresso maker.

intense_female : lol

gidget600 : oooohhhhhh

lighthart1 : you can't get much darker then espresso…

Kellogg_bluff : if you've ever astral traveled - and met something that scared you so bad you don't wanna go back ....

gidget600 : like the devil

Kellogg_bluff : GDO or his staff.

Mantis__Knight : self discipline

hammerstein1 : oh i see

faceonmars9 : In terms of what u came here to accomplish, learn, teach, etc., is failure a possibility?

Kellogg_bluff : failure is a part of every day life. I fail - at something - every day. But I also succeed at something, every day. Sometimes - my success is in failing alot. The trick is to make failure a picnic at which everyone has something to eat.

Hammerstein1 : lol

minalie™ : (succeed at failing) OOPS…lol

lighthart1 : I am just now learning to be brave enough to fail

Kellogg_bluff : believe me ----- I have failed alot. Hopefully - I will continue to fail, at least a bit, because my failures allow me to succeed.

hammerstein1 : so you choose to learn for the experience of it?

Kellogg_bluff : no - I learn to choose - because of the experience of it. It is the choice that matters.

hammerstein1 : ahhh ok

Kellogg_bluff : #10 - is about failure; and that was very good that you all picked that out.

minalie™ : ty very much kellog....my question is...if by helping others, you help yourself.. then if I ask for help..am i offering something in the asking?

Kellogg_bluff : the answer is yes, minie. J You allow me respect by the asking; I show respect by the answering.

hooplight™ : i have one question before the teacher leaves when he is ready?

Kellogg_bluff : go ahead Hoop.

hooplight™ : my question is in self discipline...how can we release ..when the act or even of releasing throws my discipline off?

Kellogg_bluff : ah - a good final question, Hoopla. There is a paradox in the act of release...because Detachment means to not grab hold of anything to begin with. So - if you have to Release something - you must have a tight hold on it...and therefore you aren't Detached, are ya? This is the paradox.

And here is the answer.

Self discipline - in this context...means to be effective in what you act upon - as well as efficient in your plans for action. Grab hold of nothing you need to Release. Of course --- this is difficult in every-day living. And because we are not monks...it makes the application of a working Creed - a necessity for spiritual growth in this Life. Assuming that Is what you want to do - with the life. Zen is very efficient for this.

But any path that minimizes the material desires...is effective. Now, while saying this --- I know everyone wants material things. So - the idea is ---- to understand that it is all temporary. And to the extent you can --- apply a Detached approach to everything you can ---- while maintaining a working life. Don't get too Emotional over anything that is material. Strive for comfort - not the extreme. Take care of the essentials - and be Honest about what they should be.

The idea of Release as messing up your control---means what you are dealing with --- is a Personal need or desire - and the Release is secondary to your Issue with that need or desire. Start with that need - desire ---- and review that, first. I think you will find the way out of your dilemma is to address that need or desire.

hooplight™ : i agree

Kellogg_bluff : nice of you to agree, since what I gave you will be like trying to pass a gallstone.

lighthart1 : lol

hammerstein1 : lol

hooplight™ : lol

idget600 : what is a path exactly is it a job, a spiritual journey, something you love to do, a way that you define yourself?

Kellogg_bluff : ok - ok; one more J . A path ---- is twofold:

  • the agreement with yourself - your plan of action - in this Wurld;
  • the agreement with the Wurld - to effect it.

That's all there is to it. Etiquette -and Protocol. Combined - that is your Path.

gidget600 : so it is all those things.

lighthart1 : ty so much Kellogg for coming in early.

Kellogg_bluff : I hoped all this yada helped a bit.

gidget600 : yes thank you so much.

hooplight™ : love the yada.

intense_female : yes it really did, thank you.

minalie™ : yes, ty...i didn't think I'd ever be able to participate or listen in..

hammerstein1 : it did!!!! thanks Kellogg.

Kellogg_bluff : this concludes Pt 3 of the SLC weekly series.... spiritual path and the Yellow brick road. If there are questions - feel free to e-mail them to SLC.

Thanks gallery - you've been a great audience, and it is a privilege to share with you.

Well - tonight - gidget gets the courage --- laurel gets the heart - Hoop gets the brain...and I dearly hope all of you got some...HOPE…as I always do - when we do these sessions.

So that we can get back Home.

goodnite - and blessing be.
