Calcination, solution and separation are now completed. Calcination humbled the self, burning the ego to ashes allowing the whole process to begin. Solution give the gift of reviewing even the most bitter details that cause pain without the interference and misperceptions caused by the ego. In separation, the real value of life is revealed, allowing the individual to let go of anything that was not found to be of value. Separation also often results in some action taking place. Perhaps the individual left a meaningless job, or became brave enough to do something they always wanted to do. The person may not have realized they had this longing. Sometimes losing everything reveals a whole world that one could not see before, because of trying to protect what they believed to possess or desired to cling to. The stage is now set for the fourth step, conjunction.
