We will make this the first question for the Forum and would love to hear all members views.

In the Reading Requests rules we currently have listed -

"1.Anyone may request a reading however we ask that new members who have not posted do not ask for them. We view this as using the community for readings and this is not what we are about. If you are new and want a reading, then please take the time and effort to join in our home before you ask one of our readers to give their time and effort to you. We view it as rude when people come to this site and straight away ask for a reading.  Anyone doing this will simply find the readings request deleted."

We would like to amend this rule to give a certain time limit that new members would be with the site before requesting a reading as it does cause upset when new members are keen to get a reading and find they have asked too early. Baring in mind that we must protect our readers from not receiving feedback and for the site being used for development and not just for free readings.

What time limit would you all think was appropriate before someone requests a reading?

Hi ya

I like this idea Nova!

Ummm................I would say 30 days if the new member is posting 50% of the time. 60 days if new members are only in once a week. New members who do not post for more than 30 days and then come back to request a reading will have to wait an additional 30 and post up. Does this make sense? lol.

I like something along Jadie's thinking as well Nova - a time period plus participation?

Thanks for your input ladies.

It would be a good idea to put in the Guidelines that any rejoining Members would be treated as a New Member - do you think?

Anyone joining and not posting for a month will be deleted anyway ( I will keep a closer eye on this one now ) as it is only fair to the regular group members.

What does everyone else think?
All ideas welcome.

Hiya, I think that the new member would have to post up weekly for at least 6 weeks to receive a reading from any of us. All of us have busy lives and want to be sure our time and energy isn't wasted! And I totally agree that any 'member' that hasnt posted in the first 30 days be deleted too! Excuse me while I get off my soap box!!

Love
Deb

I totally agree with the deleting of new members if they don't participate, I feel this does keep the group from being used as only  a "free" reading forum - I have always appreciated the way this was handled.

Yes I agree, 4 to 6 weeks before a new member can request a reading, and members that have left and then rejoined should be treated as a new member.

We are all in agreement that new members will be deleted after not posting for a month.
I have posted up that all new members that haven't posted will be deleted at the end of each month and Erika has added it to the Welcome page too.
Has anyone else got any different ideas on Reading Requests or is everyone in agreement with whats been said so far.
It might be difficult to monitor how many posts each member has posted weekly before they request a reading.

So what about something along the lines of

" Any Member that has been an active part of the group (ie posting three times a week or more) can request a reading after being a Member for 6 weeks or more"

Let us know what you think. It is your group

Hi Nova

I remember making the mistake of responding to a posting offering readings early in my membership and being extremely upset to get quite a terse response saying I couldnt have one. (the person offering the readings did one for me though). I know, now, that the rules were set out in the left hand column but when I was still finding my way around I had not read through all of that.  It might be helpful to new members if there was a notice pasted on the postings offering readings that you have to be a member for six weeks (or however long is set).  Something along the lines of

"I am offering to do a reading for any members who have been actively using the site for 6 weeks or more........"

I agree that the site should not be used by people who are just trying to get a free reading and I think a clear and obvious, but polite and tactful, reminder of the rules would help new people understand the system.

love and light

Thanks for your input Linda. I think it would be a good idea for things to be stated clearly to avoid new members feelings, although it is now easier to read the rules before you ask for a reading,

I rewrote my last post as I had missed out hurting new members feelings and then I deleted the wrong post.
Think it is time I went to bed ,

Thank you everyone for your ideas on the Reading Requests.

We have tried to incorporate as many of your ideas as possible and really value your input.

This is what has been decided, to summarize -

1 Every new member not posting after 30 days will be removed from the site.
This is now on the Welcome Page and will be carried through each month.

2 The new ruling on the Reading Request Rules

" We will be offering any Member that has been an active part of the group,
(ie joining in the Community Message Boards three times a week or more) the opportunity to request a reading after being a Member for 6 weeks or more, please understand that your reading will only be given when someone is drawn to your reading request and therefore we cannot give a time scale to this".
3 I should also mention that as of the last month or so you now click into the rules before the request column.

Thanks again for all your input,
Much love
Nova and Erika xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
