Oct 3 1994 2 Blackhawks from TF 1-160th SOAR (A) were shot down in the battle of Mogadishu with the loss of 5 Crewmembers  a Special Forces sniper team requested permission to be inserted to render aid to the crewmembers of super six four and paid the ultimate price.

Read the book blackhawk down that is the best narrative on the battle that I know of.

I was in AIT when that happened, I remember thinking how we were going to go in and cleanout Somalia.  Then the feeling the extreme let down by our C&C when he announced the withdrawal.

between somalia the first WTC attack, USS Cole, Kobar towers, and the african embassies showed the terrorists that if they attack americans the most that can happen is bombing of empty training camps and economic sanctions thatare ineffectual if they have no concern for people in their own country.

T-Man, ref #4 - Those you mentioned & many others made Osama change his policy from fighting the near enemy to the far enemy which led to the attacks in the West including 9/11.  The Soviets being the other super power, being kicked out of Afghanistan also helped the decision that we were easier targets.

I watched the movie about Blackhawk Down.  I don't know if it was accurate or not because I didn't read the book.  Between tears, I came away with the feeling that we need someone with military experience in our White House from here on out.

Shula, ref #6 - Well lets see who would qualify among the top 4.

Obamhaha-may have seen some action while community organizing.  The Ghetto is dangerous ya know.
Biden - was a draft dodger with beaucoup deferments.
Palin - has firearms experience shooting defenseless animals
McCain - got shot down & spent 5 & l/2 years in the slammer, so all his military experience is bad.

Military types make bad presidents.

The commander in somalia requested Tanks.  Clinton denied his request.  I don't recall what his reason was.

He didn't want to "exacerbate the situation". He was a moron and geopolitical neophite whose only reason for staying in office is the press was almost as good to him as it is to Obama.

I'm not talking about you as you and the truth only coincide if you think it's anti-British.

I was talking about JFK. The one whose murder by the Soviets you never had the guts to go to war for As we never did with Gaitskell's murder.

And a moose is not defenceless.

And I was a sailor. A very brave one. An anti=union one.

I went to the Flambeau club in Georgetown and the Miramar in Port of Spain. AND  could spell them right.
