i was putting the critters to bed this evening and noticed Jeremy, one of my parakeets (budgies), not feeling well. it seems he has a tumour (very common for these guys, unfortunately). hes very thin as well. hes not old, only about 6 years, but i did lose his mate a couple years ago to cancer (Jewel, she was 4). im giving him supplements and extra feedings, but not sure how well the supplements will kick in. any prayers/good vibes would be greatly appreciated! |

Good luck, little guy..........we lost a couple of budgies to tumours in years gone by, there wasn't much we could do about it but then we didn't have your kowledge of alternatives and stuff. Do your thing Jen, and we'll be pulling for Jeremy. |

thanks, pam and jim i dont think he ate this morning, and he was pretty quiet. course it was earlier (6:45) and they were up late (past midnight), so im hoping hoping hoping thats the only reason. he did come out and fly around last night. im just so scared im going to come home tonight and find him gone. hes an awesome little bird, and doesnt deserve this. hes been eating the mix (cottage cheese/flax seed + i put flax oil in this morning) im giving him, and i have more supplements coming this week. hes so thin, and that scares me too. |

thanks, stormy, that means so much.... i just talked to my mom a few minutes ago. she went down to check on him about 10 minutes earlier, and he was gone, probably around 1 p.m. mst. he seemed ok this morning, and was out as usual last night. i had separated him and his mate, Simone, together in another cage to make sure he was getting enough food, but he still had her for company. my mom said he looked like he went peacefully, so hopefully he was asleep. i actually did say my goodbyes last night; i knew he was close, but was hoping i was wrong. im still in shock; i honestly hoped i had time to try and help him, but im betting he had the same aggressive cancer his first mate, Jewel, did. it seemed to come on so fast. i found another picture of him in the newest batch of photos, taken a few weeks ago. i will try and get that up and posted tonight. Rest In Peace, Jeremy, you are loved and greatly missed |
