My name is Heather and I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  That photo is of me (on the left) and my best friend having a beerski!  Cheers!

I became a U2 fan in 1984 after the death of my Mother.  My Mom's best friend, my "surrogate mom", had the album Unforgettable Fire and I loved the song Bad.  When my adoptive father remarried my Step-mother's son, Carl, became my music dealer, lol!  He was a punk rocker and made me mixed tapes of Joy Division, U2, Depeche Mode, Bauhaus, etc...Carl influenced my music tastes very much and I am so grateful!!  I love music from all genres and have an eclectic music collection.  I have led a very tumultuous life and by the time I was 15 I was out on my own having severed ties with my adoptive father (jackass and thief), it's a long, long complicated story (I could make millions if I wrote a novel, LOL) and I am probably the only person you will ever meet who actually has no family.  I rely heavily on my friends and I think of them as my sisters and brothers and my surogate family, to whom I owe everything.

I have seen U2 in Concert 4 times so I am very lucky!  The last time I saw them was for the Elevation Tour in New York in October 2001. Bono has influenced me through his work but even when I was in Jr. High I became a "Social Studies" nerd, working with the Model UN club and debate.  I am Irish and Scottish by my heritage but all Canadian.  I had to drop out of Highschool but once I saved all my pennies (it took 10 years) I enrolled at The U of A.

I work in the construction industry at the moment with 2 part time jobs that are both sports announcing related, getting paid to watch hockey is a pretty good gig!  LOL!  I love NFL, CFL and NHL and I am an avid sports fan.  Currently I am an accounts receivable/credit manager but I studied international relations at the University of Alberta, Political Science with a globalization and governance certificate, but I ran out of money so I have to wait to finish once I am back on my feet financially.  I wish I could be a full time student, but it doesn't pay very well, LOL! So yes I am a nerd.  I volunteered for two terms as a Student's Union Councillor and ran in 3 elections, won 2 and lost 1.  I have a love hate relationship with politics, I love the idea of it but I hate power politics.  I love elections but hate party politics.  I love serving my community but wish that we could change the political system in many, many ways.  I am often called opinionated, but I think that just because I am a woman that has an opinion does not mean I am opinionated. LOL!

I am an idealist and am often left wanting more in this diffucult world.  U2 is my inspiration and my solace in hard time.  My dream is to work for the UN but so far that is out of reach...I am an reader...a bookaholic really and I love to cook and hate to do dishes.  I've never been married and have no kids but I am an Aunt to many and I love all my neices and nephews.  My "family" consists of my Aunt Maris (my Mom's Best friend) and her husband and two grown children and our dogs Murphy and Riley.  Life may not have worked out as I planned but hey whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

And you can dream
So dream out loud
And you can find
Your own way out
You can build
And I can will
And you can call
I can't wait until
You can stash
And you can seize
In dreams begin
Responsibilities
And I can love
And I can love
And I know that the tide is turning 'round
So don't let the bastards grind you down

I love those old movies, too. Another oldie but goodie is Arsenic and Old Lace with Carey Grant.

I totally spaced Arsenic and Old Lace. I'm telling you I'm not well And get anything with Bette Davis like Now Voyager, All About Eve, Jezebel and Dark Victory. Also Camille with Greta Garbo.
