"2nd demo sessions" - november 1, 1978 - U2 enter Keystone Studios in Dublin, Ireland to make their 2nd demo tape. Three songs, "Street Mission", "Shadows and Tall Trees" and "The Fool" are recorded. The session is overseen by Barry Devlin, singer and bass guitarist from Horslips.

"U2´s first cover story outside of Ireland" - november 1, 1979 - Chris Westwood writes U2's first cover story outside of Ireland in Record Mirror, a British music paper.

"October" tour - november 1, 1981 - U2 perform in Rotterdam, Holland in De Lantaarn.

"The Joshua Tree" tour - november 1, 1987 - U2 perform in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Hoosier Dome. U2 play a huge prank on the crowd: they appear as "The Dalton Brothers", an extra support act. During the performance, they walk onstage dressed outrageously--Adam Wears a skirt and a blond wig, Bono wears a red wig. Bono manages to mock a Texan accent and introduces the rest of the band as, "Luke, Duke and Betty Dalton". They perform "Lucille", after which Edge (Luke Dalton) sings Hank William's "Lost Highway", during which Bono recalls that Williams' told him that, "You can go far with country & western, not that rock & roll shit." "The Dalton Brothers" leave the stage and "The BoDeans" perform their set. Two hours later, U2 hit the stage, and during the encore Bono explains, "This is a little tune of a local band I met backstage called 'The Dalton Brothers'. It seems to be a really good tune, it's only got three chords, so I can play it. Goes like this..," and then he starts to sing "Lucille" again. The crowd realizing that "The Dalton Brothers" were U2 laugh out loud and cheer. Support is "The BoDeans" and "The Dalton Brothers".

"Dublin Council votes to give U2 Freedom of Dublin" - november 1, 1999 - The Dublin City Council votes unanimously to grant U2 the Freedom of Dublin. The keys of Dublin City are only presented to those who have made great contributions to peace and humanity or to people who have brought honour to Dublin or Ireland. An official ceremony is planned for next Spring.

85th 'VERTIGO' show - November 01, 2005 / Los Angeles, CA - Staples Center - Damian Marley. 'Larry Mullen Band' t-shirts / 'Happy B-Day' to Larry / Exit band from LA, play 'Out Of Control! City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, Elevation, The Electric Co. - Send in the Clowns, The Ocean, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - In a Little While, Beautiful Day, Miracle Drug, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, Love and Peace or Else, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bullet the Blue Sky, Miss Sarajevo, Pride, Where the Streets Have No Name, One - Ol' Man River. Encore(s): The First Time (acoustic), Stuck In a Moment, With or Without You, Happy Birthday, All Because of You, Out of Control, Fast Cars, Yahweh, 40. It's a day after Larry's 44th birthday, and the show has a party-like atmosphere. Bono mentions Larry's birthday during Elevation, then leads the crowd in singing Happy Birthday to Larry during the encore. The entire band is wearing 'Larry Mullen Band' t-shirts when they come out for the 2nd encore. After All Because of You, Bono invites EXIT, a 4-piece, all-girl former U2 tribute band to come on stage and they play Out of Control to great applause from the crowd. At the end of the show, Larry approaches the mic and thanks the crowd for coming to his party. ....Heather Graham, Salma Hayek, Winona Ryder, Rick Rubin, Charlize Theron, Val Kilmer, Jake Gillenhall, Dennis Hopper, Don Cheadle, Dylan McDermott, Lionel Richie..."Thanks for coming to my birthday party You can leave your gifts at the door I'd like to thank Bono, Edge and Adam for being in my backing band.' And the backing band, who, like Larry, had come out for the encore all wearing 'Larry Mullen Band' t-shirts, looked pleased as punch that all those years ago they had responded to that 16year old's notice on the board at school.... **** Photos on: hU2gigs

U2 arrives in Australia for Vertigo tour - November 1, 2006 - Bono, Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr flew into Sydney from their Dublin base before heading to the Gold Coast in a private jet to prepare for the tour which opens in Brisbane on Monday night. The band's legion of Australian fans have been holding their Vertigo tour tickets since March, when U2 suddenly postponed the concerts to allow one of the members to be with his family as a relative battled a serious illness. The eight-month break from the world tour also gave Bono an opportunity to launch his new initiative (RED) in the US, which will raise further funds for women and children suffering HIV/AIDS in Africa. The band also recorded a cover of punk anthem The Saints Are Coming with Green Day to assist those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Negotiations continue for Bono to make a guest appearance at the inaugural make Poverty History concert in Melbourne on November 17. Bono backs New York Mayor Bloomberg - November 1, 2007 - Rock star Bono sang the praises of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg after meeting him, declaring that his fellow philanthropist "could do an awful lot of good inside or outside the White House." Wearing his trademark wraparound sunglasses and a black and grey striped shirt, the rock star stopped briefly on his way in and out of New York's City Hall to chat with reporters. He said he was invited to meet the mayor, who wanted to know what the singer had been working on with his philanthropic projects. The U2 frontman, whose real name is Paul Hewson, co-founded the charity Data - Debt, Aids, Trade, Africa - which is dedicated to fighting poverty and Aids in Africa. Bloomberg, a billionaire, has recently begun shaping and expanding the foundation that will focus on giving his money away. "I think our paths are going to cross," Bono said.
