Kimberly - is of Old English origin and its original meaning is "Cyneburg's field." It was at first used as a masculine place name or surname and can be traced back to the Boer war when the English soldiers were fighting in the South African town of Kimberley. Another meaning I've seen for this name is "from the royal fortress meadow." I was named this because my mother had a friend with this name and also my parents named all of their children with their first names beginning with the letter "K." |

Marie is French and means 'child we wished for' which, since learning what it meant, I've found ironic since I was pretty much a miracle baby; my parents didn't think they'd be able to have me. I was named by my daddy, after his sister Marie...their parents had both died by the time my dad was 7 (he was one of sixteen children), and his sister Marie raised him...by that time, she was already married and starting a family of her own. Also, my dad's mother's sister's name was Marie, and that's who my aunt was named after...so it's kind of a family name, I guess. |

Meaning of Wendy - What does the name Wendy means? | Pronunciation: | wen-dee | | | Gender: | Girl Name | Origin: | English | Name Meaning: | Originated as a nickname of novelist and playwright J. M. Barrie bestowed by Margaret Henley, the young daughter of English poet and editor W. E. Henley. She called Barrie her "Fwendy" (friendy), which evolved to "Fwendy-Wendy." Barrie first used the name in 1904 for a character in his Peter Pan, an ever-popular play which firmly established Wendy as a given name throughout the English-speaking world.
