Same here. I'm not much on my own birthday, but I do look forward to others.

I'm not the jump up and down sort of person anyhow, but I don't mind Birthdays. I have some pretty horrible associations with my Birthday time...but life goes on. I have little problem with my own personal aging process; because I've had all sorts of health issues anyhow since I was a small child, and have nearly kicked it quite a few times over.
I like to celebrate other people's birthdays as well . We have huge get- together birthdays on the one side of my family regularly. We speak for a room at a restaurant or hall and have cakes, balloons, presents... the whole works. It is a nice chance for all of that side who can make it, to get together and gab. Mini reunions.

I look forward a little bit to my birthday. I never really go out or anything. I mostly just hang around the house with the family. I make my own dinner and cake because I enjoy that and my mom usually helps. My dad, my bother Bill, and I are all horror movie fanatics and my birthday is on Halloween, so we'll pick a few good ones to watch. I usually spend the day before with my boyfriend, he usually plans something nice. That's really it. I would never want my own huge party because I hate being the only one at the center of attention. I'm a lot like Jenn, I really love celebrating others birthdays more than my own.

I don't look forward to my birthday like I used to.  I'm with you Lyss, I don't like to be the center of attention either.

( Quick story, my sis-in-law, loves to be, (the center of it all) she rented a hall for her 30th birthday, & had a 80's themed party, where we all dressed in 80's apparel, & played all 80's music, & she spent most of the night on the karaoke mic! It was fun, but I can't see myself throwing myself a party!

Unhitched that sounds like a lot of fun, what you do in your family, we celebrate together too.

I love birthdays others, esp. my kids, all of their bdays have been very memorable for them, it's their special day after all.  My hubby's bday was yesterday, & my friend Kris, her's is on the 19th, Happy Birthday!!

I LOVE birthdays!  So yeah,  I totally look forward to them. I am the jump up and down, clap your hands like a loser type of excited...LOL!  Unhitched your b-day parties sound awesome...mini reunions! I would love that!   I love planning other peoples parties and making them happy on that day..I have planned so many surprise parties.
Sadly I was born January 5th, which I have come to learn is an awful time of the year...people are usually exhausted and broke after the holidays and I often am disappointed because nobody wants to come out and play.  I have long stopped hoping someone would plan me a party...nobody ever has but that's okay.  Lots of people forget my birthday because of the timing too.  I have learned not to take it personally.

As I get older I realize that I am in the minority about birthdays so I have tried to contain my glee and I now pretend that they don't matter much...
will you keep my secret?
hj

That's really cool, hj. I hope you won't hide your enthusiasm about birthdays.  I don't think you should keep it a secret.
