Rolling Stones, Oasis, U2 studio to close?
Olympic Studios face the financial crisis
Dec 16, 2008

A London recording studio, which has seen The Rolling Stones, Oasis,
Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix through its doors, may close because of
money problems.

The staff at the 42 year-old Olympic Studiosin Barnes - where U2 are
currently recording - have been told by owners EMI that they may have
to shut down as they aren't making enough money, reports The Evening
Standard.

"The fact is the studios are not profitable, like many British
studios," the paper reported a source as saying. "You can't get as
much business as you used to in the past. And there's no sign of that
situation improving."

Both Jimi Hendrix's 'Are You Experienced?<WBR>' album and Eric Clapton's
'Wonderful Tonight' single were recorded at the studios - and The
Rolling Stones worked on tracks for seven albums there.

I guess we are seeing the Trickle Down Economics Theory in practice in spades currently. We have every industry hurting from the economic crisis from Manufacturing, to Retail, to Healthcare even Entertainment. I've read and heard that not only is the music business hurting in CD sales, and concert attendance...but even the Soap Operas have been hurt by lack of big advertising sponsors. Broadway has seen a loss in ticket sales to shows, and I believe the movie theatres will be hurting as well.

I think people still want to go to see shows...but they are forced to be more choosey. You have to really save up for that special show you want to catch. In all our cases that will be U2...right?? LOL!
