War Child 'Heroes' album release date confirmed U2, The Clash and Elbow have now joined the project Dec 17, 2008
The release of War Child's 'Heroes' album has been confirmed for February 16.
The project sees music legends such as Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan choose younger artists including Duffy and Rufus Wainwright to cover one of their songs.
Originally, the album was due to be released on November 22. However, as word about the project spread, organisers were inundated with requests from other bands - including U2 and members of The Clash - wanting to take part.
Now, many of the acts involved have finished their contributions, and the album has been mastered at Abbey Road studios in north London.
The full tracklisting for 'Heroes' will be announced in January, but artists confirmed to be involved include Elbow, Hot Chip, Scissor Sisters, Beck and The Kooks, as well as Duffy and Wainwright.
McCartney, Dylan, Brian Wilson, The Kinks and Joy Division are among the legends to have their songs covered.
All profits from the album go to the Warchild.org.<WBR>uk charity.
