For starters, the seats we had were better than i had originally thought! They were excellent! They opened with City of Blinding Lights, which i knew they would have, what i didn't know was that even though it was suspected, the feeling of pure bliss and joy i felt all over again was not. I mean, i knew i'd be excited and happy, but the feeling i had was more than that. I love the way they are doing Elevation this tour, i think its better than it was on the Elevation tour. I love they way they start out slow and let the crowd carry the song into its climax. Out of Control was a nice suprise. That song is as old as i am, and only gets better. SBS was great, as always, and followed by a killer performance of Bullet the Blue Sky. At the end of Bullet, he dedicated it to the U.S. Military, which made me think they wouldn't be playing RTSS. I got super excited when i heard the beginning of Miss Sarajevo! But, before they played it, Bono said that it was Luciano Pavarotti's 70th birthday this week and he wanted us to sing Happy Birthday to him, so he could send it to him on film. After that we were blown away by Bono's ability to sing the Pavarotti's part of the song, and in Italian. When he hit that high note and held it, i thought i was going to explode inside. Streets has to be the best song live too! The crowd was so into this song, after it was over Bono let us sing almost the entire song again, and just stood there in amazement and said, "My God, that is amazing!" They then went into an emotional "One," and walked off stage.
They came back for an encore of songs that were totally unexpected. An acoustic "Walk On!" Then came the ultimate suprise. "Wild Horses!" I was so overjoyed I couldn't help but cry. I've been dying to hear that song live since Achtung Baby came out. Didn't think i would ever get the chance, but i did. That was followed by the always great "With or Without You." Then ABOY and the suprise ending of the show was, "Bad." You can never hear that song too many times live. I thought it was a great ending to a perfect show.
Bono did slip on the lyrics to two songs, but thats Bono and part of the reason i love him so. It was also suprising to hear that Condoleeza Rice was in the crowd and Bono, even said 'Hello' to her. It was also cool when it appeared he stepped into the crowd. I got a pic of it, but still don't know what he was standing on. Although i have a good idea.
