Waller Reviews:

Poetry. That is the first thought I have about this U2 album. The next two things which pop in to my mind are landscape and experience. To me 'The Unforgettable Fire' is a series of poetic sketches. Sketches that take you places, and cause you to imagine being in a scenario.
This CD evokes visions in my mind. The scenery of a rapidly developing Ireland in 'A Sort Of Homecoming. The anger and passion of a protester in 'Pride'. The image of a drug dealer in a dangerous game, and on a wild, violent ride in 'Wire'. Images of war, ruin and sadness in 'The Unforgettable Fire'. A romantic night in 'Promenade'. Being at a fireworks display on the '4th Of July'. Desperately trying to reach a close friend who is deeply under the spell of addiction in 'Bad'. Literally running away from your haunting past in 'Indian Summer Sky'. The ghost of Elvis Presley at the microphone in full Elvis Costume; singing from his too early grave in 'Elvis Presley And America'. A moving movie like tribute to Martin Luther King Jr in 'MLK'.
When you listen to this particular U2 CD it places you in short movies. Brief moments of time where you are someone else somewhere else. 'The Unforgettable Fire' transports. It makes you feel and makes every song an unconnected, individual moment all its own. A moment to experience. Put this CD on to play and close your eyes to take a trip. It is a beautiful ride.
Written by JennMullen for U2 Graffiti Wall: Unforgettable Fire is a unique album. Unlike U2's previous works, this album has a maturity and depth unlike any other album of it's time.
