Echos written by Danielle Steel I started telling you about this before, but will finish now as I am finished with the book. And what a book. I didn't get one question answered at the end, but guess during the Hitler era you didn't get answers to everything. The amazement was how this one family member made it through all this horrible time. She was a member of the underground group who helped the Jews and others find relief from this. Also to cause as much trouble for the German armies. But one nite while blowing up a train of munitions, she didn't get away quickly enough and was hit by the explosion. She was dragged out somehow and finally gotten to a hospital. After a time she was paralized. But she was the only member of that family left. Know why or what it made you feel why? Because she started out as a nun. She was very religious and prayed and prayed. She was ok with the paralises. She meets a fella 12 years or so older than herself. He was the one who set up the train to get as many of the Jewish children out of Germany. She moved into his home, huge castle, he had 12 of the "kindreds". The escaping kids. She helped take care of them and finally they fell in love and were married. Everyone lived happily ever after. Well after the war was over, which it was also in the end. |
