Hmmm, it was a terribly hard night for me last night. I think I've had a couple of hours sleep, maybe. I'm just now able to start unwinding a little bit. When I crash into bed this evening I will be out cold within seconds, I'm sure. The lady that lives next door to me came knocking late last night. She had a look on her face that I can't describe. I knew something was terribly wrong. She said that her hubby had taken a nap while watching tv and she couldn't wake him up. I handed the bird to her and told her to sit down and I'd get my robe and slippers on. The bird entertained her until I was able to call the police and ask them to meet us there. My suspicions were right. Her hubby had passed-on. She collapsed in one of the officers arms so they called the paramedics and the coroner's office too. She came right back, but the paramedics checked her out anyway. I got on the phone and called her 3 kids down in Southern Cal and they all said they would be on their way up here within a half-hours time. When the coroner got there she didn't want to stay so I brought her back to my place. An officer came over to talk with us after the coroner removed Bob's body. The officers that were there wer absolutely fantastic! Very kind and considerate of her and her feelings and they interviewed me and made sure I was alright also. We went back to her place when everyone left and I stayed with her until her kids got there early this morning. It's an 8 hour or more drive up here, depending on traffic. She asked me if I would bring my bird over to her place so we came over here and got her. She stayed right there on Evelyn most of the time we were there. I fixed her a good breakfast and kept her supplied with coffee and she shared it all with Ms. Chickie like they were long lost buddies. The bird could tell something was wrong and really loved up alot with her. She kept talking about how maybe she would get a bird like her now. I told her I would take her to the breeder where I got mine and make sure that she got a good one. I know the breeder quite well so I'm sure all of their birds are good ones. I told her to wait until after things settled down though because these birds need alot of attention. I'm positive she would take care of one just like I do though. She loves mine like she belonged to her. It's sweet to watch them together. Anyway, the kids got there and we talked for a little while and I came back home. It sounds like they left town without even packing a suitcase because they're going out to Wal-Mart to buy some stuff to wear and pick-up another Aerobed so that they all have something to sleep on while they're here. I have a spare Aerobed and plenty of sheets, blankets and pillows, so they just need to get one more air bed. The third person can sleep in the spare bedroom. The news of Bob's passing is going to be quite a blow to the folks in this complex because everyone loved him dearly. He was quite a clown and was always messin' with us. The kids asked if I would let everyone know what has happened and kind of be their "go-between". I'm glad that I can help them in some way. I have some pretty stationary with daisies on it so I typed up a couple of paragraphs and printed it out on that stationary. I posted one of each of the doors to the clubhouse, layed some on the main table up there and then layed the rest of them on the table in the mailroom. I don't think I could have gone door-to-door. It would have torn me up big time. The word has probably already reached everyone by now anyway. Sooooooooo, I'm going to try and stay awake because if I lay down for a nap now I will not wake up until late tonight and then I won't be able to get back to sleep tonight. I need to run to the store and get some stuff and then I think I'll go float around in the pool for awhile. I'll fall asleep floating around, so that can be a nap for me. LOL! You take care today, ok? Create a good one for yourself too! Much love, Moki html by Shani J & assembly by Risi @ Sparks please do not remove credits |
