There's a big wild fire burning, not far from the town I live in and it has gotten within 25' from a sub-division of 45-50 homes. So far the firemen have been able to keep it at that point and they're hoping to be able to keep it that way because that's the direction all the wildlife that lived in the area is running to escape the flames. I just saw a video of a large herd of deer running for their lives. It gave me a huge lump in my throat. This stuff has just GOT to stop soon!! Yesterday Griffith Park was in flames again. There's ALOT of really dry chaparell down in that area and that stuff will flame up in a split second. After the big fire they had down there in May, you would think that they would have at least tried to clear the rest of that stuff, but ohhhh nooooo! They decided that since there had already been one fire there wasn't anything to worry about. Yeah right! Now the observatory and the old-fashioned carousel are in danger -- again! Ok, will quit yammering on about all of this. But, would you please say a few prayers about all of the wild fires out here? The way things are going this year, we won't have to be concerned about breaking off from the continent during an earthquake. The state will just be incinerated.
Oh my gosh, are you going to be safe? I hate fires like that and am sure everyone does. It is so terrifying, the poor innocent animals, can you imagine how scary it is for them? I will keep all in my prayers Moki. Thanx for letting us know. Please be on watch if it gets closer to you, know what you need to do girl!
I'm perfectly safe Cylene. I'm sorry. I thought I had said something about it. My apologies. The first fire I spoke of has no way of getting to where I live, and I might as well say that the fire down in Griffith Park cannot get to me either because it's clear down in Southern California -- near North Hollywood. Actually I think Griffith Park may be considered part of North Hollywood. I'm not sure. My aunt and uncle live in North Hollywood and you can see the observatory in Griffith Park from their front porch.
I'm an old softie for all sorts of animals so I'm always worrying about the wildlife with all of these God forsaken wild fires we're having this year. Am beginning to wonder if they will ever end. The weatherman was saying a few days ago that it's dryer here this year than it has been in over 30-40 years! That's why these fires "spark-up" so fast. A person could drop on single hot ash from a cigarette and a huge wild fire could be started from that little, tiny bit of ash right now. I'm sorry I scared you. Did not mean to!
