WHEN I AM SAD
A friend said write a cheerful poem
but I do not think I can
I write about what I know best
I write about my sadness, and
Sometimes even death
I don't think when I write them
they just seem to come to me
They come inot my head at times
so clearly I can see
As if on a quilt they were sown
And I write them down to call my own.
They only come when I am sad
that's the only time they come
where do they come from: heart or head?
I'm not sure, I would like to know
They seem to fall like twinkling snow
But soon those thoughts will go away
Until they return some other day
