Here are a couple of my paintings. The Breton man is painted in Paint Shop Pro X with the palette knife and blender, using a wacom tablet The flowers are painted with Painter IX and wacom using a custom brush and stump blender. |

Hello Annie, This is just full of expression. I haven't use the painter programs so I don't know much about your tools but I do like the work. You paint like an oil painter. I hope you will get to know us by going through the passed threads to see what others have done. Lots of things that haven't make it to the gallery yet. This day of digital mediums sure has given us a lot of instant material. Lots of canvas and paint with no odor or big mess to clean up. My computer has been down for a bit and I missed the group hello so hello from here. Unruly Orange, |

I saw your website too, and you're very good. Your proportions of your people are so accurate well done. I've never used a wacom tablet but from what sortware I do have, which really gives me "tired head" when I try to understand everything that can be done with it, I can just imagine how much time and smartitudeness you need to do so well with it. I'm a member of the CG Society and some of the things there are fantastic, but as far as I know they use software modeling programs. Here is one of the artist there that I like: Charlie |

Thanks everyone. Orange I intend to go back through the pages as I do enjoy seeing the work of others. Charlie I paint using no image programs like poser or any modelling program at all. I sketch a template and paint exactly the same way as one would on a canvas. There is a distinct difference between digital art and digital painting. Digital art includes photo manipulation, the use of modelling programs, plugins, filters etc etc... digital painters use nothing else other than the brushes and palette knives available in the paint program... i.e. Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop or Painter. A painter may use a grid for perspective but no artifical aids are used at all. We do make and use custom brushes but then an artist will also custom and use brushes in real life. Most digital artists are also artists in "real life" and the techniques used are alike. Image modelling programs are a big no no for this particular type of Digital painting however we do recognise that there is a place for them in the world of Digital Art. |

Me too Annie, I use the Photoshop tools just like I use canvas and paints. Some times I use copy paste with my own paintings and create new images from previous painting. Even when I am working with PSP I mostly use the program for textures. Sometimes I use photos or some other form of medium but mostly it is just traditional paint or some mix of paint and digital expression. I have no poser or such programs. That Wacom pen is a MUST for my computer creations. No more mouse drawing, not since Deluxe Paint 4. BambooTigher if you choose to do digital works, it is so worth it. I have the small pad and it is just like using a pen or pencil, you just watch the screen instead of the paper. Orange |

Have you had a look in Wet Canvas Orange? There is a digital art forum and painters alley under Digital Art. I usually post on PA forum - however there is some good art on both forums. |
