Hello, I'm new to the group. I'm 35 and happily married. I have never been able to carry a chld to full term. I do have 3 angels in Heaven 2 baby girls & a baby boy. I live in Tn. I have PTSD due to severe mental and emotional abuse, this occured from the time I was a toddler until I left home at 18. I hope to find support here and hopefully help others also. |

hey kaytee welcome to the group pet xx i understand your past has not been easy and both physical and emotional abuse are hard, but emotional stays with us for longer, for most our entire lives but in here is a haven where you can let loose your burden to soem of the most wonderful peple. some who unfortunately have also recieved abuse but as a family we help each other grow strong and the "baby steps" as rusty put it... they are the ones we all take! so make yourself at home dear!! |

Hello Kaytee and welcome to POW. I'm so sorry to know of your losses and can only imagine what feelings these have brought up for you. After your childhood experiences, it's a very natural reaction for you to have the symptoms PTSD. I'm sure you have done some reading on it and have learnt that your brain will have taken in the experience raw through your primary senses of sight, hearing and touch The symptoms of PTSD are unpleasant but it is your mind now working to try and make sense of it. This is why the diary board makes a lot of sense (or even keeping private journal) because it helps transfer the story of what happened from pictures to language (language is the tool we use to put structure and sense to our feelings) . In counselling this would be called narrative therapy. In time, with repeated telling, the symptoms will lessen. Kaytee, you are amongst a group of people here who have unlimited patience in the listening and who will also, if you're *very* *very* good , even give you a giggle or two or three. |

Thanks for the warm welcome. This seems to be a very warm board and I hope I start to feel more comfortable soon. I find it so very hard to discuss some parts of my life. I have always found it so much easier to stuff it all in the back of my mind. I can forget it for a good while but it manages to come back. I am on meds for PTSD,OCD,Depression and anxiety. Sometimes they help, sometimes they don't. Kaytee |
