Are they working? Are road deaths down because of them? If these laws are working, then why can't we make helmet laws work?

Statistically, I don't know...Haven't checked here...

I know many of my friends still refuse to wear them...Chances of being stopped are minimal, and the fine isn't really a deterrent..I have friends that were saved by them...and those that would most likely have died had they been wearing them...

Many feel it's a government intrusion, and won't wear them on principle alone...Still others feel it just makes it easier to recover the bodies....

Personally, I always wear mine...Not because it's law...I just always felt safer, and got into the habit long before it was even required..

I'm not sure of the national survey but I feel it should be up the adult individual. The only injury I have ever suffered in a car wreck was a cracked sturnum a direct result of the seat belt.Children of course should be buckled up, they are small and could be thrown about the vechicle if not ejected from it.

Seat belts save lives ..... there are signs along main highways here in Aus. I know a young couple who would have been thrown thru the windscreen of their car if they werent wearing seat belts .... we always buckle up.
AND its illegal not to wear a seat belt here, if a passenger isnt wearing a seatbelt, the driver is fined and loses points off his/her license, because the driver is responsible for any people in the car.
Another sign along the roads............ click clack - front and back
