Rainbow cake (children's cooking)


Ingredients

4oz margarine
4oz caster sugar
4oz Self raising flour
2 Medium eggs
few drops red food colouring
few drops green food colouring
 
 

Procedure

1. Heat oven to 180 degrees Centigrade ,350  Farenheit,Gas mark 4. Grease a 23cm ( 9" ) ring mould.
2. Place all the ingredientsexcept the food colouring in a bowl and beat well together.
3. Divide the mixture into three bowls, colour one with red colouring, one with green colouring and leave the remaining one plain.
4. Place the mixtures into the prepared mould and swirl together gently with a knife. Bake for about 20-25 minutes.
5. Remove from the mould and leave to cool on a wire rack.
6.When cool cut the cake in half  to make 2 semi circles.
7. Sandwich the cake together with Butter Icing and decorate with jelly sweets and stand upright to make a rainbow.
                Chefs Tip,  To avoid adding too much food colouring; place a drop onto a teaspoon before adding to the mixture.
