Dreams

 When I lay in bed at night
 And slowly drift on my boat to the ocean of sleep,
 I see myself being dropped into thousands of canyons,
 Jumping from one to another.
 The echo of my thud,
 The last sound I hear;
 Peace! Silence!
 In the darkness all alone,
 And in my dream,
 I drift to the bush.
 The clattering of trees,
 The mayhem of birds flying through the sky,
 I hear the kerfuffle of people having a picnic.
 Discussing what food they want.
 It is my dream,
 It is my imagination.
 For it is my sleep.
 And when I sleep, I dream.
 And when I dream, I sleep.
