Jesse,
I have been woodworking for many years.  One of the things I don't don't do, since I do not own a band saw welder, is weld band saw blades.  You can usually find a place to send them out to, and the band saw welder ensures proper allignment.  If you don't have it alligned exactly, or the weld isn't ground correctly, your saw's moving parts can become dmaged and/or missalligned.  With the price of blades today, I only go through the hassle for the expensive resaw blades.  But that's just me.

You might try any machine shop near you. they might weld a blade or two for a very min. price. If you supply the blade. iit would take about ten minutes to weld it

Goood luck

With all the hoopla these days about Google it still is one of the most powerful tools to be used. Just type in how to weld a bandsaw blade and voila. The power of the internet will take you to the farthest reaches of the universe. Amazing things happen when you type in those little letters GOOGLE. Enjoy and be sure to book mark google.

Many, or most, cities have saw sharpening and bandsaw blade making companies.  The ones that make bandsaw blades make them from long rolls of blade stock which they weld.  They will reweld yours for less than the price of tank of propane gas and will guarantee the blade will not break at the weld.  If you cannot find the place in your area, find an industrial company that sells bandsaws and they will know the phone number of the company that welds blades.

Woodworking stores such as Woodcraft and Rockler sell small bandsaw blade repair kits, but I've never bothered to repair my own.

If your blade has seen a lot of wear or if it snapped for no apparent reason, it is probably not worth repairing.  Also, if it is 1/8 inch or less, the local guy will probably not be able to weld it.

Good Luck,
Gary

Did you folks realize that you're replying to a question that was posted 6/27/2004 ???

But, since it showed up now, I thought I'd chime in with this coincidence:  I was in Border's just 2-days ago (or was it Barnes & Noble?) and there was an article in a current magazine on the shelf that shows how to repair a band saw blade... I think it was Poplular Woodworking, but I'm not positive... if anyone goes to the bookstore magazine rack, they'll find it.

I have never had much luck welding band saw blates except ones used to cut metal and other wide thick blades. I use silver solder to fabricate blades for my small band saw. I silver solder blades from 1/8" to 1/2" wide for my saw. I'm not sure what thickness blades you use on your saw but if it's a saw primarily designed to cut wood that you will be able to solder them. I'm not sure if you are familar with silver soldering or not. It can be done with a standard propane or Map gas torch. It require that you bevel the blades on opposite sides to form a lap joint. I'll try to send you a pic of a clamp I made to hold it in position during the soldering process. I'll quit as it is getting long. Email me at [email protected] for more info.
