I just had to share about the bridal fair I did this afternoon.  It was the first one I ever did and it was crazy good!

Basically I only promoted our new Bridal Registry and asked the bride if she was familiar with PC.  Most of them were, if not I just told them a little about it.

Each bride had to fill out my Door Prize Slip to be registered to win my basket.  I had pink slips for the brides.  I also had a $10 goodie bag for "Friends of the Brides" and they filled out a white DPS with similar questions.  I had made my own with my questions on it - I will attach it at the end of this message, I think that is one of the reasons I have so many good leads...the way I worded the DPS questions.

Anyways, the results of the DPS (60 brides and about 40 friends):

10 brides who WANT the registry

25 brides who MAY want the registry

about 30 cooking & catalog shows

and

NINETEEN recruit leads!!!!  Can you believe that?  Check out questions #3 and #5 on my DPS, I think the wording was the key for the recruit leads.

I have a LOT of followup calls to make tomorrow!

Hope this helps someone!

Leisa

Well, Wilkes-Barre is only 3 1/2 hours away! That isn't so far!

Has anyone ever tried just going to the bridal show as a guest and getting leads. We have one coming up, but it is $600 for like 4 hours. I was thinking of just wear my PC shirt from leadership and walking around and try to approach people about the gift registry.

I would advise against that.

Just because if there is a consultant already there, that is very unprofessional.  And you could get asked very nicely to leave.

I would suggest talking to a local bridal shop, or wedding planner and see about putting out regisrty flyers there.

Or setting up a little table at a wedding shop on a Sat would be good too.

I looked at the listing and PC is listed with an Alabama address. I may call and see if there is another pc person there.

Try that negotiating thing, especially if you contact them closer to the show when they are more anxious to fill up any open tables!

Another good suggestion and hopefully it will pan out for me--I went to my jeweler at the mall and gave her some Wedding Registry flyers and asked if she will hand them out to couples that are engaged. She agreed to do it and said she would instruct her staff to do so. Will have to follow up soon to see how it is going or not and if she needs more flyers. I gave her the 2 up flyer--two flyers on a page.

Leisa,
What kind of letter or follow up will you do with those who marked Put them on a mailing list. Do you have a mailing list just for recruit leads?? Or is this your newsletter?? Just curious.

Thanks,

Lisa

everyone who gave me an email address will be receiving my monthly email newsletter for the rest of their lives :) unless they email me to opt out.

And I do keep a rolling recruit file; every time we have a new recruit promotion I send them a postcard or letter detailing the promotion, along with the "Questions you may have about TPC" flier.  My problem is I DON'T follow up my mailings with a phone call, but I will be doing that with this new (Simple Additions) special because I want to walk in July!

Lisa, how was the bridal show in Pittston?

Leisa,
Thanks for the info. I was thinking along those lines, but wanted someone who's "done" it before to see how to do it for sure.

Bridal show I had was in Binghamton NY

I couldn't get anyone else interested in the one in Pittston to help Jen out, and she had said her other friend wanted to have at least 4 do it, so I haven't heard anymore. I know the one I did in Binghamton, even if I can get 1/2 to sign up for registry that's shown an interest, it will pay for itself.

Thanks again for the info.

Maybe someday we'll meet. ;)

Which conference are you going too this year?? I'm in Wave 2, so God willing I'll be there this year and no one will go in hospital.

Lisa

Hi--Do you mind sharing the cost?  How many hours?  Approximately how many people attended the Fair?  I have the option of doing one for 4 hrs on a Sun. afternoon, cost is $500 and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it...

Thanks

Wow!!  Congrats on the success.  I just posted yesterday about this same subject.  I am doing a wedding expo on the 24 that will have 800-1000 people!!!  Any other tips you can share would be great.
