This scope is in brand new, in-the-box, never used, never mounted, mint condition.
The scope comes in the original box with all the original stuff that came with it:
- instruction booklet
- tiny allen wrench to set "zero" on the special micrometer adjustment dials.
- Questionaire/blurb sheet from Leupold
(NOTE: Never, never, on these variable scopes, loosen or remove the hex-head screw in the power selector ring as this will cause loss of the internal nitrogen that makes the scope fog-free. And, never try to lubricate these scopes.)
This scope is the type used by military and police agencies, and by sportsmen for long range precise shooting. The 3/4 Mil. Dot (military dot) reticle allows precise aiming with the scope. Use the Mil. Dot reticle as you would any other cross-hair reticle. However, the Mil. Dot reticle allows for much more. I will include with the scope set of literature that will allow the buyer to understand how to effectively use the Mil. Dot reticle to its best advantage.
This scope has the special micrometer, tactical/target scope adjustment dials. The dials are calibrated in major divisions of 1 MOA (minute-of-angle) and minor divisions of 1/4 MOA. An audible and "feelable" click indicates each division so adjustments can be made without looking at the dials. Also, calibrations on the micrometer portion of the dials indicate the number of 360° rotations that have been made. You just unscrew the protective aluminum covers from the dials and make your adjustments by turning the dials with your fingers while sighting through the scope (don't lose the covers or you'll have to get new ones from Leupold!). Regular scope dials, while being more streamlined, require adjustment with a screwdriver.
Mounting rings, etc. and lens covers DO NOT come with the scope. The buyer will have to furnish these.
I bought this scope new a few years ago because I was interested in long range, thread-the-needle shooting.
However, shortly before I was going to buy the rifle I had in mind, I changed careers due to an unexpected opportunity and began traveling 100% of the time. My guns and other hobbies languished. Now, several years later, my interests have changed, so I want to sell this scope to fund some other shooting interests.
