In Canada your selection of pistols is going to be slim. From what I hear Canada has a lot of restrictions on handguns. I would suggest you start with a .22 semi-auto. The cost is lower than the big guns and it is pleasant to shoot, which is what you need when you are just starting into the game. I like Ruger and Browning for their accuracy, but there are a lot of good target handguns on the used gun market. High Standard is one of them.
