It belong to my Grandfather who bought it. The 22 has a date of Aug 10, 1899 on the barrel and has been in the family always.   Still have no clues.  I will take a pictue and post.

I have a Standard Winchester  book that appears to have the rifle you took the picture of. It also has a black and white picture of the rifle. This book says:

 

Model 1904

This model was a slightly more expensive version of the Model 1902. It featured a 21" round barrel, a one-piece plain gumwood straight-grip stock ( the metal trigger guard gave the rifle a pistol grip feel ) with a small lip on the forend. Rifle was chambered for the .22 Short and Long until 1914 when the .22 Extra Long was added. The .22 Long Rifle cartridge was added in place of the Extra Long in 1927. This model was not serial numbered. Produced between 1904 and 1931, about 303,000 rifles were sold.

 

It gives the values of :  exc. 850, V.G. 600,  Good 350,  Fair 200, Poor 100

 

By the way the 1902 model did not have the triger guard your picture shows and the valyes are from 25 to 125 dollars more than the 1904 model

In case you are wondering I picked this book up in a used book dearlers place a number of years ago. It is a soft cover big book, there are 750 pages of everything Winchester ever made, it is quite the book. I never knew they made so many items as they did..

The book reads that this book is the most comprehensive price guide ever published and was edited by David D. Kowalski

Sorry about this but I was doing a little more reading and there is a Model 1900 that was based on the John M. Browning design, had a 18" barrel, chambered for shorts and longs. It was produced from 1899 to 1902 but it does not show the fancy trigger guard like your rifle does.
