|..THE GREEK HERO...|

METHODS OF MADNESS: A last one (obviously). Wow, all I can say is that's it's been amazingly fun. May the best man win. Good luck Keith.

The stage was set, and the sun had gone down long ago. There were just a few short hours away from the beginning of Krystmas Kaos, and just being backstand, you could tell that the superstars couldn't wait. You could almost cut the tension with a knife. Some superstars were mentally preparing, others were still in the training room getting in a few more minutes, while others were getting pumped up with their own soundtrack. Would Andrew Frost be the only one to retain his championship, and continue to prove his superiority in the division, or will Lyrica prove to be more than he can handle? Would Leaky Format's years of trying to capture the BUDvision Championshipship finally pay off, or would Jade's training with two time former BUDvision Champion, Zarek Lyle, conquer all? Who would take Dannica's place as Bytch Champion? Finally, the talk on everyone's mind, was who would finally take the World Heavyweight Championship after it being vacant for so long. Would it be the rookie sensation Zarek Lyle, or the long time main event superstar Drew Stevenson? The two hadn't met since the World Heavyweight Championship Battle Royal months ago where Drew came out on top. Would he do the same tonight, or will Zarek finally be able to claim his spot at the top.

While everyone was getting ready for their match, someone was taking some time before his match to give a quick interview on the matter. It had come to his attention that he hadn't yet talked to the press about his upcoming match, and he'd better do so before it actually happened. He didn't want Drew's words to be the only influence on the press. So there sat the greek hero, with the BUD original interviewer, Angela Jackson.

"Hey Zarek, how has everything been. I haven't heard from you in awhile,"

She smiled and waved to him like an old friend. He used to come in for interviews all the time, but ever since his accident he hadn't done so. She was eager to sit down with the greek hero, the rookie sensation. He was always fun.

"Yeah I know, it's been awhile. I've just been working my way up, and then preparing for the match at hand."

He leaned back in his chair, obviously nervous and anxious for tonight. It had to be one of the biggest matches of his career.

"I know, I know, finally another World title shot. It's been vacated for to long."

He laughed nervously and placed his hand upon his knee.

"Tell me about it."

Enough of the small talk, she slid in one of her interview questions to make the transition.

"How has your injury been going?"

Zarek shot her a confused look. He obviously had no idea as to what she was refering too. The only injury he could think of was the automobile accident, but that had occured some time ago. Right after his lose in the MOD tournament actually.

"What is this about an injury?"

She paniced for a quick second, but she's a pro, and it's not like this hasn't happened before. She quickly got out her notecard.

"Well, it was released in the press just this morning that you had been in some sort of accident. Apparently a truck was speeding through a stoplight and hit you. Do you think your injury will effect your performance at Krystmas Kaos? How do you plan to counteract that?"

Zarek sighed, apparently someone had leaked that out. People would be doubting his in-right ability all night. Well, this is what these interviews are for, to people the rumors to rest and set the record straight, if need be. It was time to do some press control.

"Oh, that. No, it's not going to effect my performance in the least bit."

Feeling the back of his head.

"As you can see, I am perfectly fine. That whole truck thing was just a minor mishap that I've put behind me, I didn't even press charges on the man. I even saw the doctor just incase anything was wrong. He assured me that it was just a scratch on the back of my head, and it won't effect the outcome of the match tonight. Although it's obviously true that I'm not at perfect 100%, it's just a slight opening. So what does that make it? 99.9%? That's not much of a difference, I am perfectly fine. Perfectly healthy. We all know that because of Drew's surgey he'll be knocked down a couple of .01%'s as well, so I guess this is just God's way of evening out the playing field. There's not much either of us can do about it right now. All we can do is just go out there and do the best we can. Put all of our heart, all of our soul, our whole body on the line and try to walk out with the World Heavyweight Championship. That's all we've been expecting this entire time, so not much has changed. Even if Drew turns out to be the victor, it won't be because of that stupid truck, it will honestly be because he was the better man."

Zarek shrugged. He didn't plan on letting that happen, but if by some chance, it did, then there would be no sense in denying it.

"Wow, your attitude has changed towards Drew since yesterday. What happened?"

He was surprised at her response. Had he really be threatening towards Drew. He didn't think he had, but hmm...maybe so. Zarek placed his hand under his chin and stroked it a bit, as if he was thinking...which he was, thinking of how to put this.

"Well, Nothing happened, really. I don't think so. My attitude towards him has always been the same. I respect the man greatly, and I do look at him as being one of the better competitors in the industry, but when it comes down o it, he's still my opponent, and we're not allowed to be all buddy-buddy. We both want that title, and when you want something that bad, you're not going to lay down just because you like the guy that you're supposed to be beating the crap out of. Especially in a steel cage match. Anything you can think of to happen tonight, will happen inside of that cage, you can be sure of it. Maybe after the match we will end up becoming good friends. We've never exactly been hateful enemies, just forced opponents that won't back down. What's at stake here is the biggest prize imaginable in this company, so you're not going to risk taking a moment out of your day to sweet talk your opponent. We both know the circumstances, and we both know what's on the line."

He nodded to her, signifying her was done wtih his answer.

"You've been labeled as the hero of BUD for quite some time now. It's just a known fact. So Drew Stevenson is set to return against you in the main event at Krystmas Kaos, when suddenly he starts calling himself a hero. Do you feel in any way that Drew is trying to steal your gimmick?"

He couldn't lie, he had heard such nonsense twice before, but there were always going to be those doubters out there. He never got tired of setting people straight in their thoughts. He sighed and laughed at such a question.

"First off Angela, this is no gimmick. I'm for real. As for Drew trying to mimmick me, I'm not so sure. I mean if he really is trying to mimmick me just to psych me out or something, then it's not working, and I really don't see why he would do that. If he's mimmicking me just to do it, then I'm flattered. How does the saying go again? The best form of flattery is imimitation. Something along those lines, you know what I'm referring too. In the long run I don't really believe he's doing anything of the sort. Drew's been around a lot longer than me, and doesn't need to mimmick someone like me, who has much less credibility than him, to prove that he knows what he's doing. If that was the case, wouldn't he just immitate someone like Seifer, or Dante Cross or someone better than yours truly? There's many of them out there. I've been approached by a few people who claim this but I believe Drew is 100% sincere with what he's doing. I think it also adds a bit more to the match. It hasn't ever been just a regular match, but I think it adds even more to it. It's somewhat of a Heroic Showdown."

She let out a chuckle, and then nodded in approval. It was another nice transition into her next question.

"About that. Normally you see a good guy facing off against a bad guy. It's just the way things work. But that's not the case in this match, is it? You have a good guy facing off against a good guy. That's what makes this match unique. But here's the question, with a good guy facing off against a good guy, what good can come out of it?"

Zarek sat up in his chair, he loved to explain this one. It always showed people that despite his and Drew's difference they were one in the same when it came to goals. It should be known by now that Zarek and Drew desire the same thing, and will do anything to achieve it.

"Well with myself against Drew Stevenson, it leaves no room for evil to win. We both have the same goal in mind and that is to fill BUD's top spot and hold onto it. In doing so, it rides BUD of the infection that has penetrated it's walls. BUD has been cursed with horrible champions in the past. Well, horrible is a bit to harsh of a word. But the past two champions dropped the championship and didn't turn back, leaving management and the remaining stars to pick up the pieces. The time before that was when DC won the title and then retired right after, involving everyone in that whole 'I just a competitor' deal. After which, I believe Nova ended up vacating the title anyway. Before that Dante was stripped of the title by management following his actions at Ultimate War. As you can see since I've been here, there's never been a true champion, in my eyes. I mean, Dante was a great defending champion but he also got himself stripped, and then later vacated it. Drew and I both seek to stop that. We're both willing to be fighting champions, who won't leave the company high and dry. It's as simple as that. So no matter who wins, BUD wins as well."

It had a nice ring to it, but then again the truth did always sound the best.

"Both of your track records have been brought up several times in the media. While they do exploit Drew's 'pressure problem', what they don't talk about as much is yours. No disrespect or anything but you also have a habit of buckeling under the pressure. The heavyweight battle royal, going up against Bobby Johnson, will the Krystmas Kaos cage match be added to that list?"

He grinned nervously. Not in a 'hey that's kind of funny' way, but in a 'god I hope not' way.

"Well I sure hope not, but I won't be able to tell you until later on tonight. Well everybody knows that I do have a habit of doing so, but be assured that this isn't going to be the case. I admit my faults in both my title shot against Bobby Johnson and the World heavyweight battle royal. I was in a different state of mind that I am now, and doesn't it show? I mean, just be the amount of promos you can tell that my determination is on a different level than it has ever been in this sitatuion. Now, don't take that as a shot a Drew's ability or anything, but it definitely isn't. I'm not downplaying Drew from Bobby, or anything of the sort. If you remember correctly they both defeated me in the battle royal, so there you go. I've said many times that that only person I feel confident against is Leaky Format. Showing confidence just isn't really me thing. All I can do is just go out there, do my best, and hope it's enough this time, despite it not being enough in the past."

He shot her a disappointed look. He hadn't been able to live down the failure of his past two tries at the World Heavyweight title, and he wouldn't be able to for awhile. No matter what happened, people would always remember it, but winning this cage match would be a nice step in the direction of redemption.

"Well this small little chat has been fun, but I must let you go. I would feel so guilty if I kept you from your preparation and you lost."

The two laughed as she subtly excused him.

"Alright, alright, I guess I'll talk to you some other time."

Both Angela and Zarek stood up, and she hugged him for good luck.

"Definitely. Good luck out there tonight."

The two let go and Zarek continued on his way out the door.

"Thanks."

He flashed his aware winning smile, and exited. The scene faded out on Angela, which left the audience silent. The audience was basically jumping out of their seats by this point. Even the superstars themselves had no earthly idea of who would walk out of that cage as the new champion. One thing was for sure, it will end the year 2007 with a bang.
