Today's Scripture

Matthew 26:28
For this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.

How does Jesus' blood relate to the new covenant ? People under the old covenant approach God through a priest and an animal sacrifice. Now all people can come directly to God through faith because Jesus' death has made us acceptable in God's eyes (Romans 3:21-24 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. )
The old covenant was a shadow of the new (Jeremiah 31:31 “The day is coming,?says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah.  ; Hebrews 8:1 Here is the main point: We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven. ), pointing forward to the day when Jesus Himself would be the final and ultimate sacrifice for sin. Rather than an unblemished lamb slain at the altar, the Perfect Lamb of God was slain on the cross, a sinless sacrifice, so that our sins could be forgiven once and for all. All those who believe in Christ receive that forgiveness.

Father, we praise You and thank You for the ultimate gift, Jesus Christ. We are so grateful for our Wonderful Savior and give You praise and honor and glory. In Jesus' Name, Amen..

God bless
Love in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior,
April
