As children of God it is so important for us to not tell God how to answer our prayer the way "we" want it answered. Help us oh God to release people and let God have his way with them; send them storms to show them where their safe place is; show them valleys so they may rest on mountain tops and let us oh Holy God get out of the way and let them fall and not pick them up as we pray God's will be done. One night several years ago I was looking for my older but homeless son. I swerved and almost got hit head on looking all over for him in the night. I pulled over to settle my nerves and the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said:" Child you are like the prodigal's father only instead of watching and waiting, you are out in the darkness where he is blinded by all you see. Go home and wait as he did." When they first handed me my son and I put him to my breast, he fit between my elbow and my wrist. His head which is is large now then fit in my palm. It was so easy to guide his steps because if he was in a dangerous place, I put him in the play pen where he was safe.... and I had control. Selah Jesus said to us, take my yoke upon you for it is easy and light. Oh some could say, well because of what happened to your marriage, your son is not going the way you have brought him up to go, but then do they ever remember about our own will to seek God's face and not his hand?
Derrick John Erickson Now he towers over me with arrogence and superiority His smile and charm so like another known before. Now he pulls away from me when ere I reach to hold him near, and rushes in and grabs his things and heads now for the door. I can not hold him close but yet though we must part, I will as his mother and teacher, hold him safe within my heart.
Father God, thank you for being our father, our loving father. Thank you so much that we can come and approach your throne. thank you for Jesus and thank you Jesus for interceding for us to the father and for leading us to His throne of grace where by we find mercy in time of need. We need you father to hold us in the palm of your hand. We have no play pen to put this son in, to keep him safe from harm. We have no way to hold him, to bind him from the things that lead him like a wild stallion to toss his head and run about. You have safe pasture for us and provision for us where we enjoy safe sanctuary with you. We have no say in what others decide to do and can only lead on paths of righteousness for others to follow you and not our commands to them. Let my son see you and not me oh Holy God. Let him have the hound of heaven pursue him at every crossroad he travels down. Release me from the care and burden of responsibility and let me, allow me and comfort me to cast the whole of this care upon you and leave Derrick and Armond at your alter of grace. I thank you for that release and the peace Jesus that you give us as parents to trust our children to you. Keep us safe from the enemy Lord Jesus by your spirit and heal us Lord and restore to us our joy to strengthen our resolve to be found resting in you on that day when all things shall be seen clearer. Father, guide our steps in a soft way that we waste no time in idle things which have no life to them but are time robbers. Help us to only do that which has eternal value, that which has eternal results, and to laugh and enjoy each day knowing our steps are ordered of you oh Holy God most high. To cast at your feet our families, our concerns, our every day activities, our provison for each day, and our inner knowledge that He who has called us is faithful. Bring your word up in our spirit man oh God and let your word be established in us, rise up in us for every good work, and we will be quick to give you all the glory for the very breath of our life, in Jesus name, amen |
