Well, I'm a new lovebird breeder I guess! I have 3 lovebirds and two of them have had eggs before. I took in a lovebird during the summer that a lady needed to find a home for. His name is Houdini. I was told that he had been turned out earlier during the summer and by luck a man had found him. So I took the lovebird in to save it from being let out again. No the Lady didn't turn him out but thinks her hubby did it. They are up in years and her hubby must of left the cage door open. But he was fine when I took him in and is a very sweet tame fellow. I was not sure if it was a male or female, but now I know! LOL
The baby is so sweet.. There was 4 eggs in this clutch. I expected the first one to hatch on Friday but it didn't. So this morning I checked to see how everything was going and WOW, there it was such a cute little bird baby..Yes I did say Cute!! ;) Anyways I was wondering if maybe sometimes the eggs hatch a little late or if maybe something was wrong with the first egg? Any ideas on this?

I got into the same predicament one time with some lovebirds that I had rescued.  For some reason, it never occurred to me that the two were of different genders.  Even when an egg appeared in a treat cup, I still assumed that it was infertile and would be ignored after a while.  Then it hatched.

To make a long story short, the chick developed splayed legs while I was being so careful not to disturb it, and Mom and Dad started ignoring it after a couple of weeks.  Wouldn't feed it.  Wouldn't go near it.  I ended up doing their job for them.  Hoppy was a darling little bird but I felt really rotten that my inattention left him deformed for life.  I never housed birds together after that.

Ok, lovebird update. All three eggs hatched and I now have 4 young lovebirds. They are eating on their own and I have moved them into other cages. Here is a photo of them! Thanks for all your help. The only problem I have now is before the little ones were ready to be on their own. I had more eggs.. Geeeee! But I was away on vacation and they didn't get hatched as the parents were upset about someone strange taking care of them.

They are so beautiful!  Iamfeathers is right.  My female lovies would always turn into little vampires when they reached puberty and especially when they got hormonal and "eggy".  I do have one very unusual sweet girl now who never got nasty once she matured.  We can even lift her off her eggs.  I don't breed but we did have one accident last year, a little cutie pie named Bebe.

They are all beautiful little birds.  How quickly they change from hatchlings to grown up birds!  Thanks for sharing their picture.
