I just remembered this is June already... I think I already responded to May's Whistle this morning... I'll have to look and make sure there are others as confused as me!!
I won't mention the four letter word that could get us over this dry spell... I feel like I jinx the forecast.
And today is the first day of hurricane season... tax free on the items necessary to survive 'till power, water etc gets back up and running...

Eventually the same will happen here, daughter's significant other does beautiful work on harwood floors... and he owes me.  That though, still a couple years down the road. We're hoping that we'll get the bird room done next year, and that will make a big difference in as far as carpet cleaning... I generally do around the cages a couple times a month, but my 'routine' was interupted this month because hubby was a bit more important than the carpet.... then add a couple of kids that don't take the shoes off at the door... and there you have it. ... Me of course trying to make up in one day what I've missed for a couple weeks?
Was stiff this morning, but with moving around, it's helping some..... Was looking at the grass that needs cutting......
NOPE...... not today!

My kids are arriving someime in the middle of the night or early tomorrow morning from San Diego.  Eight of them!  Sarah and Tom,( the mom and dad), Benjamin and Gage and Tommy and Laura (Grandkids: 11,13, 22,25  if I remember correctly) and a couple for friends, I think one of Tommy's and one of Benjamin's.

Next week should be a whirlwind around here.....Luckily, most of them will stay at daughter's Shelley's home as she has two extra bedrooms available.  All meals will be here, which I love!  Cooking for a crowd of good eaters is my dream!

Tom always brings his tools and asks for a list of 'Honey Do' projects to do for us so this time he's installing two new bathroom light fixtures and helping Don run a new water line and repair a few boards on the deck.  I also want him to take measurements to build me a pantry when they are here during Christmas holidays.....That's the kind of company to have!!!! Actually, he's happiest when he's working.  di

Boy do I have an opinion of carpets!!  If given the choice, (as long as we have pets) we will NOT have carpets!  I read an article awhile back about the bacteria that is trapped in a rug just from everyday use!  Holy cow....it stated that according to the testing they'd done - the street in front of our homes is cleaner then the average carpet!  Totally grossed me out!
Our current home has ceramic tile on the first floor.  It is beautiful and easy to clean!  Bird poop and tossed veggies wipe up nicely with a baby wipe!  There is a definite echo when the birds get to chattering, but I'll take that any day to what I dealt with before!  Eeesh!

This is the new "bird room".  It was originally designed to be the formal dining room.....but since we don't do "formal" anything - this was the perfect space!  Central to everything, easy to clean, and VERY bright!

WOW from me, too.  Those wooden play-gyms on top of the cages ~ did you make them from scratch, or did you buy them?  I want to get rid of those silly little "cage top circuses" on top of my greys cages, and switch to something like that.

I feel so bad for all of you in out in the south central plains.  I've been watching your weather on CNN today (between the Glascow story) and it seems like it's never going to end.  Are you personally holding up okay with the flooding?

Maggy, those playtops are from a company out in Oregon.  Unfortunately, they are no longer in business.  I was able to purchase one for each of our cages.......however, over the years Moe, Rosie and Scully have "eaten" theirs!  We appreciated the assembly as the stands do not contain any hardware.  Put together kind of like tinkertoys!  LOL....made it easier for the bigger birds to pull apart and chew up in sections!  Kinda like a having daily "foot toy"!  Oh well....guess thats what we live for.

Annie, I do enough scrubbing!  Wasn't it you that said to "hire out" for stuff like this!  Send me some referrals!!!

I looked, and I looked
Then I looked some more.....
Hard to distinguish the birds for all those toys!
Mine aren't quite so stuffed, and the macaws do a quick number on most of their stuff, so it constantly needs replacing

Wow!

.... and I do hire out for cleaning.... but you couldn't afford the travelling expenses
LOL!

The grass still needs cutting, the office is still cluttered, and things need to be moved so that the desk can come in.
The birds have been fed, and cages cleaned. Dogs have been fed, and out playing a few times. I did eat breakfast/lunch but haven't done dishes, and did take a 2-hour nap... and I'm still tired.
Didn't even make my bed! I never leave that unmade!
Think another early night is needed.

Here's where my greys 'live'....they are petrified of anything other than these Prevue cages, so their set-up at this time is what my grandkids would call "lame".  These cages don't even photograph well.  See why they need something other than the "cagetop circus" that came with the cages..... boring.....

Here's where my Amazons 'live':  They have nicer digs than the greys, as these were originally cages purchased for the greys, and they were so scared of them, that the Amazons got them.  Plus playgrounds that the greys are afraid of.

No one has much in the way of toys right now.  They got to the point where they weren't playing with much of anything, so we weeded out old ones, and since tomorrow is payday we'll shop for new ones.
But it sure looks like we favor our Amazons, doesn't it.  Makes me feel bad.

There are some breeders in the OKCY-Tulsa area who used to make playpens. I have two. They have formica floors, though, so they do block the light from the top of the cage. Different sizes and different prices. Their website is down right now but it's called Peewee's Playpen if you want to check them out later.
They are made of hardwood doweling and I don't think they have screws. Mine are in the attic and too hard to get to to check them.

Barbara, we are still OK here at my house but downtown floods every time we have a couple of inches in a short time.  We got another inch today and it's looking awful out there again.
Kansas has been hit hard with flooding.

They also had bad pictures from Missouri on CNN.  We had 2 good rains a couple of days ago, and we could use a little more, but nothing like what you're having!

Also, thanks for the info on Peewee's Playpen.  I jotted it down on a Post-it note.  I'll try Googling cage top play pens and see what I get also.

I'm enjoying all these pictures!

Love to see the setups and where you all keep your birdies.

We are leaving on the Sir Robert Bond this afternoon (overnight ferry) as we head out for our summer holidays.

We'll be gone about 5 weeks.  We should have internet access occasionally so I will be peeking in.

And thennnn............ we are picking up Boo to bring him home on August 3rd!  We should arrive back home some time on August 6th.

Barbara, their playpens look a lot like yours. Some are larger but some about the same size.

Ava, have fun on your holiday. 5 weeks!!! I have never been on a 5 week trip. One or two is all we can stand.
Annie
