September already! As you can see I used another photo of Di's garden. It's so bright and colourful and happy looking... It's been tornado warnings most of the night for us and I walked outside to check out the weather. It looks as if we are getting the outer squalls of Gustav. Glad so far everyone is safe..... It looks like you will get dumped on DD... |

I had to laugh in remembering something that was said to me awhile back by a recent Las Vegas transplant like myself...only this guy was from New Zealand. While trying our luck in a casino, we chatted about various things...one being some of the casual differences in our use of words. I mentioned earlier to him that I kept birds....one being a Galah. He told me that they referred to "stupid people" as Galahs in his country! Again, Poor Rosie was insulted! While we might make light of this - the Galahs are indeed a different type of bird and unique in their personalities .....very unlike any of the other birds I keep. Rosie tends to be very nervous around anything new and keeps a close eye on me for instruction. She is actually the only one that really seems to pay full attention. One example - if there happens to be a loud noise or unexpected sound, the others will immediately take flight. Rosie looks at me and while she might take on a threatening pose - she usually stays calm. This might be considered stupid in the wild but in my home, I appreciate the fact that I have one less bird to calm down! Crystal Crystal

We had the Generac 18KW installed last year when the bird room was finished out in the basement. Ours runs on propane also and since we live in the country and normally heat with propane during the winter it works out great. Have only had to use it twice, but like Dicboiv said, they pretty much take care of themselves. What I like about them is if you lose power when are out of town they automatically switch over. Once a week they automatically do a test run. It furnishes power for the whole house, furnace, A/C, sump pump, water heater, water softner, basement lights, outside lights, and garage door opener with this unit. Just peace of mind I guess. Son sent down the 'old' printer that he got as a promo with his laptop.... He never used it, and it would help me.... Got it loaded, and the ink cartridges won't move... It's a bit frustrating. I would like to retire (donate) the old desktop after deleting my stuff from it. It's slow (poor thing is 10 years old) but I need the ability to print.... Looks like I need to go shopping! He also sent me a wireless router... but I need to get the other stuff off the table top before I can even begine to mess with wires.... Ahh.... Progress!! It's not for the feint of heart! |

I loved my old HP printer but it wouldn'y work when I upgraded to XP. So I bought several brands and hated them til I found my Canon. It is so fast even on color photos. But it sucks ink and the ink is so expensive. I think $45 for a color pack and not quite that high for the black. Tiny cartridges compared to the HPs. Prints beautiful colors. They look pro. Annie |

Happy-happy, joy-joy feelings here!!! Hubby bought me a late B-day present! A new HP printer/scanner/copier all in one! It's also wireless!!!! Got to get to work now, getting everything off the old desk top... Going to give it to my granddaughter. We went into the store looking for the conversion cable that would allow me to continue using my old HP 832 printer, and came out with a new HP C6380!!!! The old scanner is pretty-much worthless, it will scan, but think it gets scared... it leave a yellow streak through everything that gets scanned! The old printer also has extra ink cartridges, so g-daughter will get thoose too. Had given g-son the printer that came with the old lap-top, and found the disk so we finally got that installed, and bought new ink cartridges for that too... He might actually be able to do some homework on it now??? (I hope!) My heart is just doing a pitter-pat with joy.... a clean, organized, functional work space!?!! SKEERY!!!!!! |

Good morning from the butthead, Murphy. Diana is an old crank this morning, too. Trying to attack me. And I don't feel well at all. Chest pain is getting old. If they don't stop changing my meds I plan to be my own doctor. They get me working good and then add a new one that makes me sick as a dog. Change it again and I feel even worse. I think I may be as cranky as Diana. Annie |

Good morning to you too, Murphy Boy! And good morning cranky Diana and cranky Annie! Seriously, Annie, I'm really sorry you aren't feeling well. I wish they would sort out your meds and then leave them alone! I'm praying that you feel better really quickly, Annie. Abby |

Just had my annual physical and all the girly stuff done this morning. I've gained back 20 pounds of the 60 I worked so hard to loose last summer. I was afraid I had gained more as I was practically bed-ridden the last 3 months before I had my hip replaced In July. The good news is that blood pressure is ans good as a teen-ager and my blood sugar is lower than it has ever been. No evidence of diabetes any longer. For the first time in my adult life I'm not anemic, either. That's thanks to the two units of blood I got after my hip replacement surgery. Now I have to make all the appointments for mammograms and all the scope-y things folks over 60 get to have done to their bodies. di |

Good Morning! Not much excitement in my neck of the errrr....cactus....sagebrush.......tumbleweeds?? Fall is having a hard time making a showing around here - dang, it's still in the upper 90's! Weather gal said this morning - we are experiencing our third hottest September on record. Lucky me! LOL....really shouldn't complain though - we haven't ventured outside for any long term stays! Everything around us is so air conditioned, I actually bring a sweater! We're having less and less light too! Can't believe it's still dark outside at this hour! The nice thing - the birds aren't yet squawking for breakfast so I can enjoy my coffee in peace just a bit longer... Have a terrific day! Crystal |

Love the coffee! Jeremiah is trying his darnedest to wake the rest of the flock up! I hear 'hi sweetheat, Puppy, Puppy, Puppy!! Get your tail! watch your toes! Aaaa!', Small growls, whistles and other sound effects... and no one else is ready to get motivated.... He's an early bird like I am.... Don't figgur! He gets up when I do, and goes to sleep when I do. |
