Hi Folks;

Well it looks like my announcement got preempted due to confusion--my apologies. I assume that Laura got the data she needed and its time to move on to Sandy (aka memaw1). Sandy's is our brickwall for the next 7 days. After Sandy will be be Donna (who we most definitely won't forget, LOL) and then Andrea.

Sandy's Brickwall is: Thompson, Wilson, McGee, Perry, posted on 5 November 2002. Sandy's brickwall message reads as follows:
"My brickwall is my father's whole paternal side have his mothers side WAY back
the surnames I am researching mainly are Thompsons from Tenn coming to live in Illinois, Wilson's and McGee's and Perry's all from Illinois Most of them finally settled in Marion and ClayCounty and some straggled over into Fayette but don't think very many. The main Thompson I am looking for is Wiliam Young Thompson b: Sumner Co Tn md: Bethinia McGee b: AR lived in Clay County or Marion County, IL and raised their children there. This clan of Thompsons had a trucking company in Xenia & Salem Illinois and were supposed to have been in partnership with a couple other fellows who started Centralia Cartage trucking Co in Centralia, Marion County, IL would love to find any information on them at all especially William and Bethinia and their children. Thanks a bunch, Sandy"

Next week we'll be doing Donna's Brickwall: 20 Year Old Brickwall......Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, posted on 5 November 2002.
"I have a brickwall that's been stumping me for over 20 years. It concerns my 2xgr-grandfather Mathew MORRIS....(Note: "James" MAY HAVE BEEN his first ormiddle name). I guess I'll just plunge right in.

Mathew MORRIS--b.1823, OH to Levi & Jemima (LONG) MORRIS; d. 19 Apr 1862,
Paducah, McCracken Co., KY U.S. Hospital. On 14 Sept 1845, in Edgar Co.,
IL, Mathew MORRIS m. Mary [Roseanna?] HENSLEY--b. ca. 1825, IL to James &
Elizabeth (LEWIS) HENSLEY; d. 1 Jan 1895, Jasper Co., MO.

In 1850, Mathew & Elizabeth (LEWIS) MORRIS & their children (Dennis D.
Jemima H., & Ellen Elizabeth) resided in Clay & Richland, Dist. # 14, Clay
Co., IL. By 1855 they had moved to Howard twp, Wayne Co., IA---where they
are found in the 1860 census. Mathew & Elizabeth had 3 more children, all
born in Wayne Co., IA (Mary Ann Catherine, Deborah Jane, & Tabitha
Angelina).

Mathew was a Private in the 18th Infantry MO Vol., Co. B-Private, enlisting
on 17 June 1861, at Putnam Co., MO. He was mustered in on 14 Nov 1861, at
Laclede at Camp Morgan, MO, at age 38. He was wounded at Pittsburg Landing,
TN at the Battle of Shiloh, 6 Apr 1862. He died 13 days later at Paducah,
McCracken Co., KY--U.S. Army Hospital. Mathew's unit was commanded by Capt.
Henry P. Shilts/Stults.

My brickwall-----WHERE IS HE BURIED???? The military records do not show
him being buried in Paducah, KY, & I haven't been able to find him elsewhere.

Hope someone can help me! Donna.....in the Land of Oz, USA"

The following week will Andrea's turn with: Zimmerman, Maurer, Walsh families, Sangamon County. Andrea's Brickwall posting, posted on 4 Nov 2002, follows:
"Below are my husband's ancestors from Sangamon County, IL. This is as far as I have gotten. I need to verify Catherina and John as I have been unable to get information from IL state. I also need to find out when they immigrated, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

I know I posted this before, but maybe you didn't recognize that Asa was born in Arkansas so maybe you will be able to trace him as a possible brother to Bethena

Mel;

It looks as though you may have solved the problem with McGee/Kelly.
Margret Kelly is probably Bethenia's mom. What say you, Sandy?

Cheers, Wayne

Hey All I just received 49 messages from IKK alone and some of them are dated as far back as last Friday.  Maybe now I can go through and see what was sent to me as it took almost 10 minutes for them all to come through.  Will let you all know what I have found. ( after I finish mowing the lawn before the rain)
Sandy

It sure looks that way  this is what has me fooled.  Did she remarry after the death of my grandfather William Thompson because
In the birth records of some of the kids it list parents as William Thompson b: Va and Bethinia (McGee) Thompson b: Ar.  but I have a article with a picture of Grandpa's brother Frank and maybe his son Jim standing in front of a truck from the trucking company they owned in Iuka although the truck says Salem, IL  and it lists him as the son of William and Bethinia (KELLY) Thompson.  This has me really confused  and why she was my main brick wall

The 1880 census is on-line, free, at Familysearch.org...all I did was type
in McGee...Acey was there with Kellys. Typed in Acey McGee, and there he
was enumerated twice with Kellys.

Considering the information below, I don't think I need to search the 1860
Arkansas census records. Yes, she probably remarried, since she had a son,
James Kelly, born 1863 [perhaps Mr Kelly died during the Civil War]. John
Kelly was born in 1850, according to the Auburn, Clark County census. His
mother was born in Arkansas and father in Missouri. His wife, Mary, seems
to be a Bradley, since his single sister-in-law is living with them.

Household:

Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's

John M. KELLEY Self M Male W 30 AR Railroad Laborer MO AR

...... I have a article with a picture of Grandpa's brother Frank and maybe
his son Jim standing in front of a truck from the trucking company they
owned in Iuka although the truck says Salem, IL and it lists him as the son
of William and Bethinia (KELLY) Thompson

Thi is what I have on file right now as of a 3 days ago. Would it seem logical for me to persue the Kelly line for before she married William or after.  I am really stupid when it comes to some of the files I am trying to figure out but intend to check every one of them for leads.  Just wasn't sure which end I ought to start with.
