In 1850, there was only one Zimmerman family in Sangamon County.  This was the family of Robert B. Zimmerman born in Pennsylvania.  I am assuming we can ignore anything which pertains to him.

By 1860, there were 4 Zimmerman households, one being R. B., whom I believe to be Robert, above.

In addition to R.B. were the following:

Name: Zimmerman, George Year: 1860
Gender:  Age:
County: SANGAMON CO. State: IL
Page: 451 Location: SPRINGFIELD P. O.
George Zimmerman 24 Male brickmaker Mintenberg?  Probably Miltenberg
...........................................................................................................................................

Name: Zimmerman, John Year: 1860
Gender:  Age:
County: SANGAMON CO. State: IL
Page: 435 Location: DAWSON P. O.

John Zimmerman 40 Male farmer 500 Ohio
Sarah 43 Female Virginia
John B. 10  female Ohio
Mary Anne 6 female Ohio
James Berry 26 male F labor England
................................................................................................................................................
Name: Zimmerman, Sarah Year: 1860
Gender:  Age:
County: SANGAMON CO. State: IL
Page: 442 Location: SPRINGFIELD P. O.

Sarah Zimmerman 16 female Illinois living with John and Nancy Shehan, and family
...................................................................................................................................................................

It doesn't look like your family was in Sangamon County in 1860

These look like the same family.  My theory is that there was an overlapping or double coverage by census takers/enumerators and therefore you have two perspectives on the same family!  Even says first & second enumeration.  Cool Beans!
