Hi folks

Well, its Thursday, but I'm not sure that we gave Joan what she was looking for. There was a good deal of traffic from Carolyn and myself but I'm not sure whether any of it was relevant. Joan, what say you?

This week our attention turns to Mary Ann who first posted her brickwall, "Illinois SIMPSON's Fred, Earl, George, Nathaniel, Betsey, Nora, Robert ", on 31 July 2002. Mary Ann's original message reads:
"I have come as far as I can in getting info on these people. Does anyone have any info? Please let me know if you do."

Update 29 January 2003--entitled "SIMPSON" reads:
"Looking for SIMPSON's who came from New York and most of them settled in Illinois. Nathaniel, William, Asa, and some others."

Mary Ann, we could really use some date ranges on these SIMPSONs to give us a place to start.

*****
Next week will be Carrie's turn with: "Maybe you can help?", dated 27 August 2002. Carrie's brickwall message reads:
"I am looking for anyone who can tell me anything about Walter Aaron BOREM. He was born in 1943 and lived a long time in Hammond, Indiana. He would have graduated school in 1961 maybe Hammond Tech. He died in Florida in November 1990. This is my sister's biological father, She never was able to meet him while he was alive. We tracked down his Mom (Martha 'Mike' BOREM) to Wisconsin just find out she passed away as well in 1995. Her brother Joseph MARTELL lived in Hammond but passed away as well. I keep hitting brick walls for information. His sister's name is Carol Lee BOREM but I get no answers from her. I really just want a photo of the man for my sister. She wants more than anything to be able to see who he looks like. If you have any information or know anyone who can help me. Or heck any ideas on tracking down a photo please email me at [email protected]."

Updates 16 & 18 September 2002--entitled "New Surname", read:
"Walter Aaron BOREM was born in 1943. He was a sophomore at at Hammond Tech <which I believe is gone now> in 1960. He entered the Navy with a friend named Butch REINHEART <sp> who later passed on by his own hand. He hung out with Sharon DEERING GAMBLIN. He died in Nov 1990 somewhere in Florida. Someone he knew has got to be alive somewhere."

Carrie, Mel provided you with quite a lot of details on BOREMs from Hammond IN. Do you have any updates on your previously posted data that might help us out?

*****
The week after that it will be Pat with "BULLARD-JENKS-Ogle Co." posted on 21 Aug 2002.(it was actually posted on the "Brickwalls List" on 1 Jan 2001) Pat's brickwall posting reads:
"Seek death of Emeline (MINER) JENKS BULLARD B.1849 IL. Alive in 1891 in Lynnville, Ogle, IL.Also marriage or death of her daughter, Jennie JENKS b.l875 IL. Spouse unknown. Alive in 1880. Pat Maher"

Update for 3 June 2003, reads:
"Am I getting anywhere near to the top of the brick wall list to get some help on my Emeline BULLARD death and death or marriage of her daughter Jennie JENKS/JINKS? Emeline lived in Ogle Co IL in 1891 but could have moved to another county, I suppose. I have tried the entire search on the index web sites. Would like to hear from you."

I also sent this message to the ladies' personal accounts.

Cheers, Wayne

They were husband and wife.  It's about all I found out so far but after I talk to Velda's brother I'm hoping my brick wall will have another big crack in it.

Hi Betty;

I have access to some CDs through AncestryPlus (available through some libraries) but not all.

Did the lady at Sycamore give a site or -email address to contact?

Cheers, Wayne

Hi Betty;

I just saw your message in re Wayne Henderson--Mel took care of that one.

In re how to post data, it depends on the format. If its on floppy or CD then uploading or attaching and attraching the file is the way to go. If its on paper then scanning it and then attaching it is the way to go.

Glad to hear about Velda's brother--sounds like a good source of data.

Cheers, Wayne

Thanks Melody!
I paid a personal visit to this place, and was able to get copies of some obits etc.  25 cents a copy.
They also will do requests online, and if you need more than one or two copies they will bill you a small fee for the copies and postage.  Well worth it.
They are very nice and knowledgeable there.
They said just email them anytime we need something.

Wayne!  I did get ahold of a Chicago Directory, and one for outlaying areas.  Nothing in those but they are new Directories.  I did not get a chance to get my hands on old ones as hubby chicken to drive in Chicago.  We did accidently end up in West Chicago and that is when I looked at the directories.

Wayne, Carolyn, et. al
information that may help with our searches and suggestions.  I wasn't able to keep my search names straight until I think I figured out that first Emeline Miner married William Jenks, then she married Mr. Bullard, but I do not know the date of that marriage, or his first name.  She had a daughter, Jenny with Mr. Jenks.  Would like to know the year Jenny was born.

JENKS, WILLIAM H            MINER, EMELINE L                     11/18/1869 00C/     00003515 OGLE

Is this correct?

a lot of ifs on this one...Brown is nowhere near Ogle County, and the name would have to be mistranscribed.  It might be worth a try, though.

Have you tried the Ogle County volunteers?  Some of these names are in the Lynnville Cemetery, and since the census show them in that area, I would at least try there.
