Hey Guys;

Its Thursday already and I know that Mary Ann now has some big cracks in her brick wall.

This week its Carrie's turn with: "Maybe you can help?", dated 27 August 2002. Carrie's brickwall message reads:
"I am looking for anyone who can tell me anything about Walter Aaron BOREM. He was born in 1943 and lived a long time in Hammond, Indiana. He would have graduated school in 1961 maybe Hammond Tech. He died in Florida in November 1990. This is my sister's biological father, She never was able to meet him while he was alive. We tracked down his Mom (Martha 'Mike' BOREM) to Wisconsin just find out she passed away as well in 1995. Her brother Joseph MARTELL lived in Hammond but passed away as well. I keep hitting brick walls for information. His sister's name is Carol Lee BOREM but I get no answers from her. I really just want a photo of the man for my sister. She wants more than anything to be able to see who he looks like. If you have any information or know anyone who can help me. Or heck any ideas on tracking down a photo please email me at [email protected]."

Updates 16 & 18 September 2002--entitled "New Surname", read:
"Walter Aaron BOREM was born in 1943. He was a sophomore at at Hammond Tech <which I believe is gone now> in 1960. He entered the Navy with a friend named Butch REINHEART <sp> who later passed on by his own hand. He hung out with Sharon DEERING GAMBLIN. He died in Nov 1990 somewhere in Florida. Someone he knew has got to be alive somewhere."

Carrie, Mel provided you with quite a lot of details on BOREMs from Hammond IN. Do you have any updates on your previously posted data that might help us out?

*****
Next week will be Pat with "BULLARD-JENKS-Ogle Co." posted on 21 Aug 2002.(it was actually posted on the "Brickwalls List" on 1 Jan 2001) Pat's brickwall posting reads:
"Seek death of Emeline (MINER) JENKS BULLARD B.1849 IL. Alive in 1891 in Lynnville, Ogle, IL. Also marriage or death of her daughter, Jennie JENKS b.l875 IL. Spouse unknown. Alive in 1880. Pat Maher"

Update for 3 June 2003, reads:
"(Need) some help on my Emeline BULLARD death and death or marriage of her daughter Jennie JENKS/JINKS? Emeline lived in Ogle Co IL in 1891 but could have moved to another county, I suppose. I have tried the entire search on the index web sites. Would like to hear from you."

*****
Following Pat should be DoDah (aka Carol) who is researching MAY, HICKLE, and KILLOUGH. Carol lives near Cerro Gordo, IL, but her ancestors came from PA and OH. Her posting, entitled: "MAY Surname Search" and dated 28 Aug 2002 was directed to Janie and reads "You created this site to assist researchers in Illinois. Do you know of any group like this one for Ohio? " Although not a brickwall posting per se, it was a request for help from IKK. Carol, if you want to provide us with specific information (i.e., Who, When, Where) we can try to do some look-ups in IL, PA and OH for you. In any event, please let us know if you'd like our help or not.

I'll also send this message to all the ladies' personal accounts.

Cheers, Wayne

Totally not looking for Borem at the time I saved this to my drafts.  I was hunting a Rus/Rees/Reese/Reece family connection for a dear cousin.  I happened to not the very close resemblence to Borem.

In re Walter Borem:
Although I didn't find anything in re Walter A. Borem per se, I did find a lot of Borem-related data on-line using Google.

The three most interesting items were: an index to Hammond Tech Yearbooks at the Hammond Public Library (item 1); an index for IN Newspapers which revealed that there were 88 items on the name Borem in their holdings (item 2); and an obit for a Walter E. Borem (item 3--also at HPL). The remaining data may provide you with points of contact who may have more data or pics, or at least some more research points which may lead to same.

I hope this helps. Cheers, Wayne

Mary - You could scan the tiny pic and enlarge it enough to get a little more detail.  They usually show up larger on a computer screen after being scanned for a better view of the person's features.  By exporting it to a photo finishing program you could enhance the photo as well.  Hope this helps.
