There are a lot of Wheelers in the Land Patent site:
You would recognize the names where I would probably miss the one you are looking for.
just hit the search for land patent area.

Okay Dale;

Sorry I sent the first message to the wrong guy--I was trying to respond
to too many brickwalls at once.

The genealogical winds are not blowing fair for you this evening.
Genealogy.com, which has the 1879, 1900 and 1920 Censuses indexed, is
so slow that it isn't worth dealing with tonight--I'll try again
tomorrow. Ancestry.com, which has the 1920 and 1930 census indexed, is
working pretty well and I found some of your kin but I can't look at the
census images for Hillsboro in the 1030 Census--processing error.
Hopefully they'll get that fixed soon. I did find them in the 1880 index
on FamilySearch. What I've gotten so far, follows. Cheers, Masugu

Dale;

I'm sure that there's a lot more of value on your family at
Genealogy.com. Unfortunately its like slogging through molasses these
past few days.--excruciating! I did get the following two census entries
though. Masugu

1870 Census, IL, Montgomery Co., Hillsboro Twp., Sheet 63A,Page 114A,
Roll 262, Part 1,
Jane Wheeler, 44, F, Keeping house, $400, -, IL
J. Ben Wheeler, 22, M, Farmer, -, $500, IN
Wm Wheeler, 25, M, Farmer, -, $500, IN
Eph Wheeler, 22, M, Farmer, -, $600, IN
Chas Wheeler, 18, M, Laborer, -, -, IL
Jackson Wheeler, 16, M, Laborer, -, -, IL
Its obvious that Malcomb is gone and Jane is the head of household. Data
on the kids suggests that Malcomb and Jane stayed in IN till ca. 1848,
then moved back to IL. The age for James is apparently a mistake and I
can't begin to figure why there's a J. Ben instead of 2 separate entries.

1900 Census, IL, Montgomery Co., South Litchfield Twp., Litchfield City,
Ward 1, ED 92, Sheet 4B, Page 271b
(Read: name, relation, sex, DOB, age, marital status, # of years
married, (# of children borne, # surviving), POB, FPOB, MPOB, trade,
rents or owns)
Ephraim Wheeler, Head, M, Jan 1852, 48, M, 30, IL, IN, IN, Day laborer,
Rents house
Julia Wheeler, Wife, F, Jan 1854, 46, M, 30, (9, 8), IL, KY, IL, -
Washstella Wheeler, Daughter, F, June 1874, 25, S, IL, IL, IL, -
Rufus W. Wheeler, Son, M, Apr 1875, 24, S, IL, IL, IL, Day laborer
Jessie O. Wheeler, Son, M, May 1877, 23, S, IL, IL, IL, Day laborer
Evaline B. Wheeler, Daughter, F, Aug 1883, 16, S, IL, IL, IL, at school
Walter Wheeler, Son, M, Oct 1887, 12, S, IL, IL, IL, IL, at school
Arthur P. Wheeler, Son, M, Aug 1881, 18, S, IL, IL, IL, at school
Roy C. Wheeler, Son, M, Feb 1896, 4, S, IL, IL, IL, -
Since only 7 kids are listed I assume that Josephine has left home and
that Cora was the child who died.

Hi dale;

Well I still can't view the Hillsboro Census images for 1930. However, I do have a list of all the Wheelers living in Hillsboro Twp. (according to the census index) in 1930. Cheers, Masugu

Note that Netttie, Lola are listed together & Pearl is within 2 pages of them. The remaining 4 are all together.

Dale;

I did find one more possible tidbit before Genealogy slowed down to a crawl again. It may represent an earlier mariage for Ephraim. Als, the nameo Ephraim Wheeler goes way back in New England genealogies. Given the penchant for families to repeat certain names over the genwerations it may be worth you while to do some research on Wheelers, in VT, NH, and MA. This is the last I'll be doing on this particular query and since I did quite a lot of research on it I'd appreciate hearing whether you rewceived it or not. Cheers, Masugu
